    Abstract: A computer-implemented technique performs machine learning that bypasses the traditional design of loss functions. The technique includes receiving plural instances of gradient objective information. Each of the plural instances includes a particular combination of plural gradient elements. The technique produces plural sets of machine-trained parameter values using the plural respective instances of gradient objective information. The technique performs this operation based on the plural instances of gradient objective information as given, without calculating the plural instances of gradient objective information using loss functions. The technique then measures performance of the plural sets of machine-trained parameter values in an application system. Based on the measured performance, the technique provides output information that identifies a particular set of machine-trained parameter values that satisfies a prescribed test.

    Abstract: A spoil-based lightweight porous backfill for purifying waste gas and wastewater and a method of use thereof are disclosed. The spoil-based lightweight porous backfill is formed with a plurality of interconnected pores, and the pores are loaded with a purification material. The purification material can purify wastewater and/or waste gas passing through the pores. Compared to traditional closed-cell porous backfills, the spoil-based lightweight porous backfill of the present technical solution is of an open-cell type, possessing strong adsorption capacity. After being loaded with the purification material, it can serve as a multifunctional purification body to provide a purification function for treating low-concentration wastewater and waste gas, thereby realizing an environmental purification function on the basis of providing a backfilling function.

The policy selector selects a policy from the policy bank for the target communication network. The target communication network applies the policy and the load is balanced on the target communication network. Improved load balancing leads to a reduction of the number of base stations needed in the target communication network.

The tool also inputs the data of the claim into an unsupervised machine learning model that is selected based on a stage of claim processing that the claim belongs to and receives as output from the unsupervised machine learning model an identification of a cluster of candidate claims to which the claim belongs. The tool combines the outputs of the supervised machine learning model and the unsupervised machine learning model to generate the provider score.
