  • Publication number: 20170097957
Abstract: A system for transferring data from a Relational Database Management System (“RDBMS”) to a big data platform and methods for making and using the same. The system can acquire a partitioning execution scheme of a selected table from the RDBMS and submitting partitioned queries from the big data platform to each mapper of partitions. The partitioned queries are generated based on the partitioning execution scheme. The partitioning execution scheme can be acquired by submitting a query explain request to an optimizer of the RDBMS to generating a parallel query plan. The partitioning execution scheme can also be acquired by querying statistics from a statistics catalog of the RDBMS or by user inputs. The system can use RDBMS capabilities and statistics for parallel data fetching. Thereby, the system can increase efficiency of the fetching and can avoid straggling when target data is not evenly distributed and can avoid table query-in-serial.

  • Publication number: 20160128641
Abstract: An actigraphy method includes receiving a physiological parameter signal as a function of time for a physiological parameter other than body motion (such as electrocardiography or a respiration monitor), computing a body motion artifact (BMA) signal as a function of time from the physiological parameter signal (for example, using a local signal power signal, a local variance signal, a short-time Fourier transform, or a wavelet transform over epochs of duration on order a few minutes or less), and computing an actigraphy signal as a function of time from the BMA signal, for example by applying a linear transform to the BMA signal and optionally applying filtering such as median removal and/or high-pass filtering.

  • Patent number: 9182940
Abstract: According to one or more embodiments, a method is provided. The method may include receiving an indication to pause playback of a media file at a current location in the media file. The method may also include receiving an indication to resume playback of the media file. Furthermore, the method may include determining an elapsed time between the indication to pause playback and the indication to resume playback. Furthermore, the method may include determining, based at least in part on the current location and the elapsed time, a second location in the media file that occurs before the current location. Further still, the method may include resuming playback of the media file at the second location.

  • Patent number: 8875009
Abstract: A Navigation Control File for XML (NCX) generation module receives an electronic media item comprising input text. The electronic media item may also comprise links, where each link comprises a source position and a target position. The NCX generation module generates an NCX file for the electronic media item based on the input text and whether the links within the electronic media item satisfy one or more rules.

  • Patent number: 8826169
Abstract: In some implementations, content of a content item may be presented on an electronic device and a portion of the content item may be selected to be hidden from presentation. The electronic device may hide the selected portion of the content during presentation of the content. Further, selection information identifying at least the location of the selected portion of the content item may be communicated over a network to a computing device to enable synchronization of the hidden content with other instances of the content item on other devices of the user. In some examples, the user may select one or more chapters of the content item to be hidden by selecting one or more chapter identifiers in a table of contents of the content item. Hidden content may include text, images, audio and/or video content, depending on the type of content item that is accessed.

  • Publication number: 20130178168
Abstract: A multi-band matching network for RF power amplifiers utilizes multiple impedance transformer branches connected in parallel. Each transformer branch achieves matching at one frequency band. A core of each transformer branch is connected between frequency blocking networks, which reject out-of-band signals.

  • Patent number: 7958063
Abstract: A method of identifying and localizing objects belonging to one of three or more classes, includes deriving vectors, each being mapped to one of the objects, where each of the vectors is an element of an N-dimensional space. The method includes training an ensemble of binary classifiers with a CISS technique, using an ECOC technique. For each object corresponding to a class, the method includes calculating a probability that the associated vector belongs to a particular class, using an ECOC probability estimation technique. In another embodiment, increased detection accuracy is achieved by using images obtained with different contrast methods. A nonlinear dimensional reduction technique, Kernel PCA, was employed to extract features from the multi-contrast composite image. The Kernel PCA preprocessing shows improvements over traditional linear PCA preprocessing possibly due to its ability to capture high-order, nonlinear correlations in the high dimensional image space.
