  • Publication number: 20090144657
Abstract: An approach is disclosed for sharing images using a mobile device. An image is captured by the mobile device, which can establish a voice call over a wireless network. A menu of options is presented to a user for sharing the image with other users, wherein one of the options includes uploading the image to a remote platform configured to store the image in a folder among a plurality of folders. A text message is generated, in response to selection of the one option, according to a messaging protocol for transmitting the image over the wireless network to a gateway coupled to the remote platform. The text message includes information specifying one of the folders for storing the image. At least one of the folders is identified to indicate how the image is to be shared.

  • Patent number: 7362504
Abstract: Miniature optical devices, including circulator array devices, are fabricated using thin film coating technology. A typical optical device includes two refraction elements arranged opposite each other along a propagation axis and coupled on opposite ends to first and second polarization orientation elements with first and second PBS elements are coupled to the first and second polarization orientation elements, respectively. The refraction elements include complementary Wollaston Prism elements or Rochon Prism elements. Each polarization orientation element includes a Faraday rotator element, and in some embodiments, a half-wave plate formed using thin film coating techniques. The Faraday rotator elements are periodically poled in some embodiments using selective poling techniques to create oppositely oriented magnetic domains so that polarization rotations of 45 degrees in both clockwise and counter-clockwise directions can be simultaneously achieved on the same magnetic garnet.

  • Publication number: 20080022300
Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for providing real-time access to movie information to viewers in an interactive television viewing system. During select times when viewing a program on a television, the viewer is presented information, typically an advertisement, regarding a movie available for viewing in a movie theater. The viewer can opt to review supplemental information regarding the movie, including information directed to the actors, plot, rating, and where and when it is showing relative to the viewer's location. The viewer can opt to purchase tickets as well. The system can be controlled in one embodiment by the user interacting with a set top box sending signaling information to a processor in the network headend that retrieves the appropriate information for display to the viewer. The information can be provided to the set-top-box and displayed to the user using an overlapping window, or other techniques.

  • Publication number: 20070199025
Abstract: An enhanced television service provides a shared folder over a television network, such as a fiber optic network. Users, the service provider, or trusted sources, share use of a program folder via television. A user recommends content, such as a program listing, to other geographically dispersed subscribers, by sending the content to the subscribers' shared folder. Users may create a personal content guide for use instead of a standard program guide that contains identical listings for all subscribers. The shared folder may consist of programs from a variety of channels as well as other content and may be populated by trusted sources in remote locations. Users may search for content that matches search criteria and may delete or edit listings from the shared folder. The contents of the folder may not only include program listings, but also other content such as movies, television shows, web sites, photos, home videos, etc.

  • Publication number: 20070199018
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for enhanced television services such as an interactive audio programming guide for a television. Users may use an input device, such as a remote control, to select display objects displayed on an output device, such as a television, as part of an interactive programming guide. An IPG module on a network terminal, such as a set top box, may determine whether the display object requires an audio representation. If an audio representation is required, the set top box may transmit an audio representation of the display object to the television to be played for the user.

  • Publication number: 20070199019
Abstract: Preferred systems and methods provide a personal channel for broadcasting personal content to televisions over a network, such as a fiber optic access network. A service provider assigns a personal channel identifier to a broadcaster. This identifier allows viewers to tune to the personal channel. The broadcaster sends personal content to the service provider together with a list of authorized viewers for that personal content. The service provider stores the personal content and makes it available as specified by the subscriber for viewing. When requested, the service provider sends the personal content to the specified set top boxes on the assigned personal channel identifier. By tuning the set top box to the broadcaster's channel, viewers may view the personal content on television as though it were broadcast from any network television station.

  • Publication number: 20060234079
Abstract: The present invention is a method of fabricating a self-peeling nickel foil from a silicon wafer. The method includes forming a template of silicon by electrochemically etching a portion of the Si wafer to create a porous Si portion with pores of a desired depth. Then electrolessly plating nickel into the template, wherein the porous silicon portion is converted into a porous nickel portion and continuing the electroless plating until the internal tensile stress at an interface of the porous nickel portion and the silicon wafer is great enough to self-peel the porous nickel portion from the silicon wafer creating a nickel foil.
