    Abstract: This invention relates to magnetocaloric materials comprising alloys useful for magnetic refrigeration applications. In some embodiments, the disclosed alloys may be Cerium, Neodymium, and/or Gadolinium based compositions that are fairly inexpensive, and in some cases exhibit only 2nd order magnetic phase transitions near their curie temperature, thus there are limited thermal and structural hysteresis losses. This makes these compositions attractive candidates for use in magnetic refrigeration applications. Surprisingly, the performance of the disclosed materials is similar or better to many of the known expensive rare-earth based magnetocaloric materials.

    Abstract: Embodiments of a three-dimensional (3D) memory device are provided. A method for forming a 3D memory device is disclosed. A dielectric stack including interleaved sacrificial layers and dielectric layers is formed over a substrate. Channel holes and contact holes are formed through the dielectric stack. The contact holes extend vertically into the substrate and are each surrounded by channel holes of nominally equal lateral distances to the respective contact hole in a plan view. A channel structure is formed in each of the channel holes. A memory stack having interleaved conductive layers and dielectric layers is formed by replacing, through the contact holes, the sacrificial layers in the dielectric stack with the conductive layers. A spacer is formed along a sidewall of each of the contact holes to cover the conductive layers of the memory stack. A contact is formed over the spacer in each of the contact holes. The contact is electrically connected to a common source of the channel structures.

    Abstract: A flexible display device is provided. The flexible display device includes a display module, a heat plate, a heat collecting component, and a heat conducting tube connecting the heat plate to the heat collecting component. The heat plate transmits heat to a bending portion of the display module when the display module is in an expanded state. By collecting the heat during the operation, the collected heat is applied to the warped bending portion when the flexible display device is flattened, so that the warped bending portion is restored to be flat, thereby improving the product appearance and product stability.

The NPR steel material for rock bolt has a yield strength adjustable in the range of 500-1100 MPa, and an elongation adjustable in the range of 10-80%.

    Abstract: A self-powered module for gesture recognition is presented that utilizes small, low-cost photodiodes for both energy harvesting and gesture sensing. Operating in the photovoltaic mode, photodiodes harvest energy from ambient light. In the meantime, the instantaneously harvested power from individual photodiodes is monitored and exploited as a clue for sensing finger gestures in proximity. Harvested power from all photodiodes is aggregated to drive the whole gesture-recognition module including a micro-controller running the recognition algorithm. A robust, lightweight algorithm is provided to recognize finger gestures in the presence of ambient light fluctuations. Two prototypes are fabricated to facilitate user's interaction with smart glasses and smart watches.

The zwitterionic polymer is crosslinked by cysteamine, producing pH/reduction responsive polyamino acid zwitterionic nanoparticles after purification. The nanoparticles are pH responsive and resistant to non-specific protein adsorption. Because cysteamine contains disulfide bonds, the nanoparticles have sensitive reductive responsiveness and can load anticancer drugs for controlled release at the target site of cancer.
