The present disclosure can suppress the shaft current on the bearings and protect the bearings of the motor. The motor shaft current suppression mechanism of the present disclosure can be used in electric drive systems.

A time constant indicative of an association between a temperature rise amount and an operating time of a solid-state circuit breaker operating at a predetermined operating current is determined. A first temperature rise amount of the solid-state circuit breaker is determined based on a temperature rise amount detected before the solid-state circuit breaker is turned off, a duration for which the solid-state circuit breaker is turned off, and the time constant. A second temperature rise amount of the solid-state circuit breaker is determined based on the first temperature rise amount, the time constant, and an operating current detected after the solid-state circuit breaker is turned on. A turn-on state of the solid-state circuit breaker based on a comparison between the second temperature rise amount and a predetermined threshold is controlled.
