  • Patent number: 11849401
Abstract: The minimization of the amount of power consumed by an electronic device in acquiring or maintaining network connectivity with a network may extend the battery life of the electronic device. When the electronic device has established a communication connection with a wireless access point, the electronic device cycles a network interface controller of the electronic device between a power on state and a power off state without terminating the communication connection. Accordingly, the electronic device powers on a main processor of the electronic device when the network interface controller detects a beacon during the power on state that indicates the wireless access point has a buffered data frame for the electronic device.

  • Patent number: 11307656
Abstract: View-through sensors each locatable proximate to an eye of a user and for use while the user is engaged in viewing activity. Each view-through sensor has a view-through region that allows the user to view through the sensor. An active peripheral region at least partially surrounds the view-through region and includes multiple light-sensing regions for sensing light reflected from an eye. In some embodiments, the view-through sensor is configured to use environmental light for eye tracking. When the view-through sensor uses environmental light, spatial and temporal information about the intensity of the environmental light can be used to enhance eye-tracking performance. This information can be obtained, for example, from light-sensing regions on the reverse side of the view-through sensor, from an electronic display, or from a forward-facing camera. In some embodiments, the view-through sensor includes light-emitting regions that emit the light that the sensor uses to track eye movement.

  • Patent number: 10936083
Abstract: A self-powered module for gesture recognition is presented that utilizes small, low-cost photodiodes for both energy harvesting and gesture sensing. Operating in the photovoltaic mode, photodiodes harvest energy from ambient light. In the meantime, the instantaneously harvested power from individual photodiodes is monitored and exploited as a clue for sensing finger gestures in proximity. Harvested power from all photodiodes is aggregated to drive the whole gesture-recognition module including a micro-controller running the recognition algorithm. A robust, lightweight algorithm is provided to recognize finger gestures in the presence of ambient light fluctuations. Two prototypes are fabricated to facilitate user's interaction with smart glasses and smart watches.

  • Patent number: 10537873
Abstract: The present invention discloses the Synthesis and application of MOFs/natural polymers composite beads adsorbents. To overcome the drawback of MOFs, in an embodiment, both novel MOFs/sodium alginate (MOFs/SA) and MOFs/chitosan (MOFs/CS) composite beads were prepared and characterized. Each composite beads include one or more of MIL-101 (Cr), MIL-100 (Cr), MIL-53 (Al), MIL-100 (Al), NH2-MIL-101 (Al), UIO-66, ZIF-8, ZIF-68, ZIF-67, and ZIF-9-67 nanoparticles. Adsorption of anionic contaminants onto the two composite beads was investigated and compared with pristine sodium alginate beads (SA) and chitosan beads (CS). The novel MOFs/SA beads all exhibit much higher adsorption capacity than SA beads; the novel MOFs/CS beads all exhibit much higher adsorption capacity than CS beads, which indicates that MOFs played a key role in the adsorption of anionic contaminants. The porous composite beads disclosed herein and related methods and devices may be used in adsorption technologies.
