    Abstract: Example reference signal sending methods and apparatus are described. In one example method, a terminal device detects whether a paging scheduling message exists in a PDCCH search space whose starting subframe is a subframe corresponding to a paging occasion (PO), and/or detects whether a wake-up signal (WUS) exists before a PO. A network device determines a time domain resource in first duration based on a quantity of paging occasions in a discontinuous reception period, where the time domain resource is a time domain resource in a time-frequency resource used to transmit a reference signal. The network device sends the reference signal to a terminal device on the time domain resource.

    Abstract: The present disclosure relates to methods and terminal devices for detecting a wake-up signal. A terminal device sends first information to a network device, where the first information indicates a reported gap, receives second information sent by the network device, and determines a configuration condition of a first gap and a configuration condition of a second gap based on the second information. The terminal device determines a target gap based on the reported gap, the configuration condition of the first gap, and the configuration condition of the second gap, and detects a wake-up signal at a detection position before a start position of the first paging opportunity in a paging time window, where the detection position is determined based on the target gap and maximum duration of the wake-up signal.

In technical solutions provided in this application, a network device determines, from a plurality of wake-up signals that can wake up a to-be-woken-up terminal and that need to be monitored by the to-be-woken-up terminal for one PO, a target wake-up signal of the to-be-woken-up terminal, and sends the target wake-up signal to the to-be-woken-up terminal. If the terminal detects, for the one PO, at least one wake-up signal of the plurality of wake-up signals that can wake up the terminal and that need to be monitored by the terminal, the terminal monitors a downlink control channel at the PO.
