  • Publication number: 20050259785
Abstract: Three-dimensional structures are fabricated by a process in which a 3D solid model is designed by software at a PC and sliced into a series of 2D layers. Each 2D layer is displayed at a dynamic mask via micro-mirror deflections projected onto a photoresist to form a layer, which is lowered and the process is repeated to build the object layer by layer.

  • Publication number: 20020094189
Abstract: A video editing system or tool for E-commerce utilizing augmented reality (AR) technology combines real and virtual worlds together to provide an interface for a user to sense and interact with virtual objects in the real world. The AR video editing system is usable in conjunction with an ordinary desktop computer and a low-cost parallel port camera. A known camera calibration algorithm is utilized together with a set of specially designed markers for camera calibration and pose estimation of the markers. OpenGL and VRML (Virtual Reality Modeling Language) for 3D virtual model rendering and superimposition. are utilized. Marker-based calibration is utilized to calibrate the camera and estimate the pose of the markers in the AR video editing system. The system comprises video input/output, image feature extraction and marker recognition, camera calibration/pose estimation, and virtual reality (VR) model rendering/augmentation.

  • Patent number: 6158346
Abstract: A prototyping method and apparatus incorporating the invention enables rapid fabrication of heterogeneous parts with non-planar and/or layer-by-layer printing. An electronically addressable array of micro-electrodes is employed as a "printing" panel, A processor controls the printing panel through use of two dimensional planar slice data. Such slice data is used to address electrodes that correspond to points in the slice image. When the printing panel is brought close to a flat powder bed, a static electrical field at each addressed electrode attracts particles to the electrode's surface. The powder image on the printing panel electrodes is then placed over a substrate and the powder image is released to the substrate by applying a reverse polarity voltage to the electrodes. Multiple applications of powder image layers, with intervening fixing of each image layer, enables a three dimensional object to be rapidly constructed.

  • Patent number: 5962915
Abstract: Improved commercial single crystal wafers (250), as shipped to end users form a full circle, and comprise a "stress concentration notch" (172) which accurately defines a desired cleavage plane. The stress concentration notch is introduced into the wafers in bulk by means of a properly oriented cut along the length of a single crystal ingot, after machining the ingot to the desired end product diameter, and prior to sawing the ingot into slices. The stress concentration notch uniquely defines the first and second faces of the wafer.
