  • Patent number: 10298301
Abstract: The channel estimation method for millimeter-wave communication includes virtual multipath acquisition and sparse reconstruction. In the virtual multipath acquisition stage, instead of searching the real multipath components (MPCs), the virtual representation of the real MPCs is derived, and the hierarchical search is utilized to acquire the virtual MPCs based on a normal limited-resolution codebook. In the sparse reconstruction stage, the real MPCs are reconstructed from the virtual MPCs acquired in the virtual multipath acquisition stage. An enhanced sub-array scheme is used to design a hierarchical codebook under a strict constant-modulus constraint. The designed codebook can be used for both analog and hybrid beamforming/combining devices. The training overhead of channel estimation and the complexity of the search are significantly reduced, and the size of the dictionary matrix is greatly reduced by exploiting the results of the virtual multipath acquisition.

  • Patent number: 8908424
Abstract: The subject application describes systems and methods that drive magnetization switching through magnonic spin transfer torque. A spin current is provided to a first magnetic layer with a first magnetic state. The spin current facilitates magnetization switching via a magnonic spin transfer torque in a second magnetic layer with a second magnetic state that is separated from the first magnetic layer by an interface. Alternatively, a spin current is provided to a first magnetic domain with a first magnetic state. The spin current facilitates domain wall propagation via a magnonic spin transfer torque. The domain wall is between the first magnetic domain and a second magnetic domain in a second magnetic state.

  • Patent number: 8601065
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for preventing spam e-mail messages from being propagated or transmitted by monitoring user interaction events associated with the system are disclosed. According to one aspect of the present invention, a method for processing a first e-mail message on a system that transmits e-mail message and has an input device includes identifying an attempt to transmit the first e-mail message; and determining whether a user interaction event has occurred within a given time interval. If it is determined that a user interaction event has not occurred within the given time interval, the first e-mail message is prevented from being transmitted.

  • Patent number: 8013406
Abstract: A system, structure, and method of making the structure are disclosed for generating a large chemical potential difference between spin-up and spin-down electrons in non-magnetic materials. The device includes an inverse spin valve of a sandwiched layer structure with alternating non-magnetic and magnetic layers. In an embodiment of the invention, the structure is a tri-layer device with a magnetic layer sandwiched by two non-magnetic metals. Once the inverse spin valve structure is provided, an external electric field is applied to the inverse spin valve to generate a large chemical potential difference between the spin-up and spin-down electrons. In an embodiment of the invention, this feature is exploited to create a tunable light emitting diode or laser. In an embodiment of the invention, a dynamical magnetism is induced and controlled in the valve by an electric field. The dynamical magnetization may be used as spin source, or in electronic storage devices.

  • Patent number: 7930491
Abstract: Systems, methods, apparatus and software can be implemented to detect possible instances of memory corruption. By analyzing memory blocks stored in a memory, provided in a snapshot file, or provided in a core dump, implicit and/or explicit contingency chains can be obtained.
