    Abstract: A method for a receiver to cancel or suppress co-channel interference with network assistance is provided. The method comprises deriving a first set of parameters related to interfering signals in a mobile communication network; receiving a second set of parameters related to the interfering signals from the network; and cancelling the contribution of interfering signals from the received signal based on the combination of the first set and second set of parameters. In one embodiment, scrambling rules and resource block allocation information are signaled to the victim UE to facilitate Codeword-Level Interference Cancellation (CWIC). While the scrambling rule for control channel is based on UE-specific identity, the scrambling rule for data channel is based on cell-specific identity or other network-configurable identity to facilitate CWIC. In addition, RA-allocation information are signaled to the victim UE in an efficient way.

With the methods proposed in this invention, both the legacy UEs and the new released UEs can be served in the adaptive TDD systems and the data transmission from the legacy UEs would not interfere the data reception of the new released UEs.

The DRS consists of one or multiple reference signal types with the functionalities including timing and frequency synchronization, cell detection, RSRP/RSSI/RSRQ measurements, and interference mitigation. RE muting is configured for the DRS to reduce interference level from data to DRS for discovery and RSRP/RSRQ measurements for small cells.

The UE determines a first set of candidate ePDCCHs within the first set of PRBs, wherein one or more candidate ePDCCHs potentially carries DCI intended for the UE. The UE then decodes the first set of candidate ePDCCHs to obtain the DCI intended for the UE. Similar steps are performed for a second set of candidate ePDCCHs potentially carrying DCI intended for the UE. The allocated radio resources of the candidate ePDCCHs may be distributed or localized and constitute either common or UE-specific search space. Blind decoding complexity is reduced.

    Abstract: Methods and apparatus are provided for narrowband UEs. In one novel aspect, frequency hopping is used. The UE stays on the first frequency band for consecutive number of subframes before hopping to another frequency band. In another embodiment, the first set of resource elements and the second set of resource elements are discontinued with a gap in the time domain. In another novel aspect, the UE obtains sub-band information and a resource index and generates a communication channel for data frame transmission and receiving. In one embodiment, the UE further acquires the sub-band set information through system information. In yet another embodiment, the resource index is acquired from DCI. In yet another novel aspect, resource blocks are selected for a PUCCH for a narrowband UE. The UE determines an operating sub-band information and selects one or more narrowband regions for the PUCCH.

In a fourth solution, the network broadcasts a TDD reference configuration in SIB1, and adapts to another TDD configuration with DL super set constraint, i.e., the DL subframes of the other TDD configuration form a super set of the DL subframes of the broadcasted TDD reference configuration.

    Abstract: A base station communicates a positioning reference signal (PRS) to wireless communication devices over a downlink in a wireless communication system by encoding a PRS into a first set of transmission resources, encoding other information into a second set of transmission resources, multiplexing the two sets of resources into a subframe such that the first set of resources is multiplexed into at least a portion of a first set of orthogonal frequency division multiplexed (OFDM) symbols based on an identifier associated with the base station and the second set of resources is multiplexed into a second set of OFDM symbols. Upon receiving the subframe, a wireless communication device determines which set of transmission resources contains the PRS based on the identifier associated with the base station that transmitted the subframe and processes the set of resources containing the PRS to estimate timing (e.g., time of arrival) information.

The UE repeatedly transmits a data block with a first repetition number and retransmits the data block with a second repetition number. In one embodiment, the first and the second repetition number value are explicitly included in an uplink grant message. In another embodiment, the UE obtains a repetition number value by looking up a repetition number table indexed by the repetition number indicator, which is included in an uplink grant message for the first repetition number and included in a HARQ message for the second repetition number.     Abstract: Apparatus and methods are provided to enhance HARQ mechanism. In one novel aspect, the UE decodes resource blocks in a HARQ indicator channel and detects a single-state HARQ indicator encoded with a UE ID of the UE. The UE determines a HARQ acknowledgment status for the data transmission based on the HARQ indicator. In one embodiment, the HARQ indicator channel is either a UE-specific channel, a group-specific channel or a cell-specific channel. In another novel aspect, the UE increases a HARQ count upon decoding the HARQ indicator channel. The UE retransmits the data transmission if the HARQ count is smaller than a predefined maximum HARQ count and the HARQ acknowledgement status is determined to be negative. Otherwise, the UE stops the data transmission. In another embodiment, the UE terminates the data transmission is the total repetition number is greater than a predefined maximum data transmission number.

The physical layer acknowledgement signaling may take the form of physical hybrid ARQ indicator channel (PHICH) signaling. A base unit reserves resource elements groups (REGs) for default PHICH signaling of default PUSCH transmissions. The base unit reserves control channel elements (CCEs) for physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) signaling. A CCE contains multiple interleaved REGs. The base unit takes any unreserved CCEs and maps those CCEs for physical layer acknowledgement signaling of additional PUSCH transmissions.
