  • Publication number: 20100261259
Abstract: The present invention provides a method for the recombinant expression of polypeptides originating from gram negative bacteria, in a fungal host suitable for industrial production. In a first aspect the present invention relates to a method for recombinant expression of a polypeptide from a gram negative bacterium in a fungal host cell, comprising the steps: i) providing a nucleic acid sequence encoding the polypeptide, said nucleic acid sequence comprising a first nucleic acid sequence encoding a fungal signal peptide and a second nucleic acid sequence encoding the polypeptide, having at least one modified codon, wherein the modification does not change the amino acid encoded by said codon and the nucleic acid sequence of said codon is different compared to the corresponding codon in the wild type nucleic acid sequence present in the said gram negative bacterium; ii) expressing the modified nucleic acid sequence in the fungal host.
