  • Publication number: 20070039013
Abstract: An optical disc drive includes an optical pickup unit and a carrying mechanism. The optical pickup unit has a first clamping portion and a second clamping part. The carrying mechanism includes a mounting plate, a first guiding component and a second guiding component. The mounting plate has a locking hole. At least one of the first guiding component and the second guiding component is a plate structure and has a hook. The hook is plugged into the locking hole for enabling the first guiding component or the second guiding component to be engaged with the mounting plate. The first clamping portion or the second clamping portion is respectively coupled to the first guiding component or the second guiding component for sliding the optical pickup unit along a first direction.

  • Publication number: 20060259914
Abstract: The present invention discloses a disc reading apparatus, including a main chassis, a sub-chassis, a spindle motor, a slide unit, and a stopper. The sub-chassis is movably disposed on the main chassis. The spindle motor is disposed on the sub-chassis for rotating a disc. The slide unit touches the slide unit and selectively touches the spindle motor. The slide unit drives the sub-chassis and the stopper so that the sub-chassis, the stopper, and the slide unit are selectively located at a first status and a second status. At the first status, the spindle motor rotates the disc to be read. At the second status, the stopper stops the spindle motor.

  • Patent number: 7070954
Abstract: The present invention relates generally to the field of human genetics. Specifically, the present invention relates to methods and materials used to isolate and detect a human gene (SH3D1A), some polymorphic alleles of which cause susceptibility to cancers hematopoietic disorders and in particular platelet disorders, Down Syndrome, megakaryocytic disorders and leukemia. More specifically, the invention relates to isolated nucleic acid of the human SH3D1A gene, products, and their use in diagnosis and treatments. The invention further relates to the screening of drugs for cancer therapy. Finally, the invention relates to the screening of the SH3D1A gene for mutations, which are useful for diagnosing the predisposition to hematopoietic disorders.

  • Publication number: 20060080692
Abstract: An optical drive with symmetrical anti-impact structure. A joint is fixed to an optical pick-up and slidably disposed on a guide bar with both ends supported by a base, and a symmetrical bumper is attached to the joint. When the bumper impacts the base, the joint does not deviate from the sliding direction thereof.

  • Patent number: 6991489
Abstract: The present invention provides a connection device for connecting an electrical device. The connection device includes a dielectric housing having a slot formed therein to allow the electrical device to plug in. The slot includes a top surface and a bottom surface. A first bulge portion and a second bulge portion extend downward from the top surface. A third bulge portion and a fourth bulge portion extend upward from the bottom surface. The first bulge portion corresponds to the third bulge portion for clamping the electrical device. The second bulge portion corresponds to the fourth bulge portion for electrically coupling to the electrical device.

  • Publication number: 20050076348
Abstract: An optical disc drive having a tray moved by the spindle motor is disclosed. The optical disc drive at least comprises a chassis, a tray, a spindle motor, a transmission chain and a coupling apparatus. The tray is mounted on the chassis for carrying a disc. The spindle motor is used for rotationally driving the disc. The transmission chain is used for moving the tray. The coupling apparatus selectively couples the transmission chain and the spindle motor. When the coupling apparatus is started, the transmission chain is coupled to the spindle motor, and the power generated from the spindle motor is transmitted to the tray through the transmission chain, so as to power the movement of tray for in-and-out of the optical disc drive. Thus, the invention does not require a conventional tray motor, so as to decrease the production cost.
