  • Patent number: 8738641
Abstract: In various exemplary embodiments, a system and associated method for prioritizing search results in an electronic environment is disclosed. The system comprises a communications module to receive a search query from an end-user. The search query includes one or more characters contained within a single TCP packet. A query engine coupled to the communications module matched the one or more characters from the search query against a plurality of selected keywords contained within a database against the search query. Each keyword is then ranked within the plurality of selected keywords thus forming a subset of selected keywords. A response including the subset of selected keywords is returned to the end-user.

  • Publication number: 20120197752
Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed to automatically publish data items associated with a news event. In one embodiment, a method comprises determining, using one or more processors, an event of a plurality of events as associated with a heightened user interest, identifying one or more listings from a plurality of listings as matching the event associated with the heightened user interest, and presenting a visual representation of a relationship between the event and the one or more listings such that the one or more listings are displayed as visually related to the event.

  • Patent number: 8176032
Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed to automatically publish data items associated with a news event. In one example embodiment, a method comprises monitoring search queries associated with a search query category, detecting a change in a search request frequency associated with the search query category with respect to a baseline frequency, determining an event associated with the search query category, identifying one or more data items associated with the event, and generating a visual representation of a relationship between the one or more data items and the event. The search query category may be associated with at least one search term a baseline frequency.

  • Publication number: 20110238645
Abstract: A system and method for providing a suggested store at or through which to purchase a product or service. When a user enters a query for a product or service into a user interface, the system may use the query as a search argument to search files to find one or more pictures illustrating information about a product or service represented by the query. The picture could illustrate where the queried product or service may be purchased. Auto-complete processes may also be used to process the query as it is being entered, to generate an auto-suggestion key word based on fewer than all the letters of the query, to use as a search argument for the search. Both the query and the auto-suggestion key word may be used as search arguments to find the relevant picture in a variety of search logic sequences to provide the picture to the user.

  • Publication number: 20110004508
Abstract: One embodiment provides a system for generating questions related to product aspects. The system may comprise: a product review analyzer to extract product values associated with the products from product reviews, in which the product values may include product categories, product aspects and product aspect evaluations; a product review summary builder to build product review summaries based on the extracted product values associated with the products; and a question generator to generate a set of questions regarding the product aspects based on the product review summaries.

  • Publication number: 20100169341
Abstract: In various exemplary embodiments, a system and associated method to predict search results in an electronic environment is disclosed. The system architecture comprises a communications module to receive a query from a remote end-user where the query includes one or more characters contained within a first single communications packet. A query engine is coupled to the communications module. The query engine uses the one or more characters from the query to predictively match keywords contained within a data structure (e.g., a database) and forms a response from the one or more characters. The response is transmitted back to the end-user within a second single TCP communications packet.

  • Publication number: 20100169160
Abstract: Embodiments for recommending gifts to users for their gift recipients over a network are described. For example, a gift recommendation system may collect a set of historical transaction data of a plurality of transactions, and organize the set of historical transaction data based on information related to buyer gender, buyer age, item category, and transaction date of each transaction, in which the list of predetermined amount of gift categories are ordered based on an entire item purchase amount of each gift category. The gift recommendation system may retrieve gender and age information of a gift recipient, for example, via a graphical user interface, and then may automatically present to the user a list of predetermined amount of gift categories selected from the organized set of historical transaction data based on the gender and age information of the gift recipient.
