  • Publication number: 20090048451
Abstract: In the present invention a method to synthesize a triazole derivative from a Lewis base mediated nitroalkene-aldehyde coupling is revealed. In this synthesis a nitroalkene is reacted with an aromatic aldehyde in the presence of a Lewis Base, NaN3, and a solvent for about 2 hours to about 48 hours at ambient conditions such as room temperature. The synthesized product may be any type of 4,5 disubstituted-1,2,3-triazoles. Of the nitroalkenes alkenes most ?-alkyl nitroalkenes can react such as a ?-substituted alkene. The aromatic aldehyde can be any 6 carbon aromatic aldehyde whether unsubstituted, substituted, disubstituted, heterocyclic, or a five carbon thiophene carboxaldehyde. The reaction takes place in the presence of NaN3, a Lewis base, and solvents.

  • Publication number: 20070173618
Abstract: A thermoplastic resin composition is disclosed which includes: structural units derived at least one substituted or unsubstituted polycarbonate, and a polyester comprising structural units derived from at least greater than 40 mole percent of xylene glycol, such that the composition is miscible. Also disclosed is a process of making said thermoplastic compositions and articles derived from said composition. The composition disclosed possess good optical properties, thermal properties and stability.

  • Publication number: 20030193418
Abstract: The invention presents a method to input text on a legacy alphanumeric keypad upon which no substantial changes involved. On such a keypad keys are normally shared by four or more characters, creating an ambiguity thus inefficiency. This method introduces shift keys on the side or back of the keypad body, which can be pressed by fingers otherwise only serving to hold or support the device, together with any regular key actuated by the thumb to generate the intended input. This reduces the time needed to resolve the ambiguity and can be done conveniently by natural participation of other fingers from the same hand. Two shift keys can be pressed together to function as a third shift key to further reduce the complexity.
