    Abstract: A cryptocurrency using a fully decentralized, permission-less public chain to provide a relatively stable currency reference to values from the physical world. The cost of production and the miners' arbitraging behavior is used in a proof-of-work system as the key feedback to establish a long-term equilibrium price. This equilibrium pricing anchors the unit of accounting in the to the global competition of electricity prices, which is more stable than any fiat currencies based on historical data. It eliminates the burden on application developers to dynamically price their goods or services based on off-chain exchange prices. The currency is not pegged to the U.S. dollar or any other fiat currency, but is instead, it is built on top of its own economy and its proof-of-work interactions with the physical world.

    Abstract: A proof of stake system is used to create new blocks in which a proposer of a block within a validation committee selected from a candidate pool of stakeholders is chosen to write a block to the blockchain. The validation committee is selected through a proof of work method using miners to solve cryptographic puzzles. This provides a sufficient degree of randomness with regard to the selection of validation committee and the ultimate block proposer. It also adds a sufficient aspect of absolute time in that a finite amount of time is required by the miners to solve the puzzles. The identity of the proposers is random and timestamps and other indicia of time cannot be faked as there is a real-world aspect to the timestamps.

    Abstract: A method and system for supporting multi-processing within an asymmetric processor architecture in which processors support different processor specific functionality. Instruction sets within processors having different functionalities are modified so that a portion of the functionality of these processors overlaps within a common set of instructions. Code generation for the multi-processor system (e.g., compiler, assembler, and/or linker) is performed in a manner to allow the binary code to be generated for execution on these diverse processors, and the execution of generic tasks, using the shared instructions, on any of the processors within the multiple processors. Processor specific tasks are only executed by the processors having the associated processor specific functionality. Source code directives are exemplified for aiding the compiler or assembler in properly creating binary code for the diverse processors.

    Abstract: In one embodiment, a method for parallel processing of blocks in a decoding process is provided. A plurality of blocks for a picture is received. The picture may have the plurality of blocks arranged in a first order. The blocks in the plurality of blocks may be pre-processed to determine data dependency information for blocks. In one embodiment, the blocks in the picture are all pre-processed to determine the data dependency information for every block in the picture if possible. Blocks that do not have data dependencies are then determined and sent for parallel processing in processing units. Also, blocks that still have data dependencies are not processed until the data dependency information becomes available. For example, an inter-coded block may be decoded and information for the decoded block is used to decode the intra-coded block. At this point, these blocks may be sent for processing in the processing units.
