Patent number: 10372302Abstract: Alternative visual analytics for a particular business object are determined in response to user requests to change the dimensions of a previously generated visual analytic. By analyzing the request to change the dimensions, an alternative visual analytic pattern that includes suitably dimensioned visualizations is determined. The alternative visual analytic pattern includes a description of a particular visualization and defines how to generate a corresponding visual analytic. Based on the alternative visual analytic pattern, a modified report definition can be generated. The modified report definition, that includes analytical operations with dimensions corresponding to the request, can be executed on the business object to generate modified analytic data. A new modified visual analytic that comprises a visual representation of the modified analytic data is then generated based on the alternative visual analytic pattern.Type: GrantFiled: August 29, 2013Date of Patent: August 6, 2019Inventors: Sui Yan, Xiaojun Feng, Harish Tyagi

Patent number: 9942319Abstract: A technique is described providing offline support to business applications. Offline support allows a business application running on a portable electronic device without connectivity to a backend server to operate as though the business application has access to a backend server. The technique receives a sync request for content from the portable electronic device. A sync task is generated from the sync requests and processed to generate a package that contains the desired content. Once the package is generated, the package is stored in a package repository and a download notification is transmitted to the portable electronic device to notify the user that the package is ready. The package can in turn be delivered to the portable electronic device when a download request is received from the portable electronic device.Type: GrantFiled: April 9, 2014Date of Patent: April 10, 2018Assignee: SAP SEInventors: Paul Xi, Ming Zhu, Xiaojun Feng, Mohamed Elzankaly, Marco Eidinger, Ananda Kumar Gajula, Mario Linge, Yang-cheng Fan, Oscar Marquez, Jianxun Zhou

Publication number: 20160085600Abstract: A technique is described providing offline support to business applications. Offline support allows a business application running on a portable electronic device without connectivity to a backend server to operate as though the business application has access to a backend server. The technique receives a client request to operate the application in an offline mode. The technique then retrieves a business object to be utilized in the offline mode and an event trigger for interacting with the business object. The native programming language is then determined and then an event handler written in a native language of the client device and that is associated with the event trigger is retrieved. The event trigger is then modified to point to the event handler. The business object, event trigger, and event handler are then packaged together.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 23, 2014Publication date: March 24, 2016Inventors: Mario Linge, Ananda Kumar Gajula, Jianxun Zhou, Oscar Marquez, Xiaojun Feng, Yang-cheng Fan, Ming Zhu, Paul Xi, Marco Eidinger, Mohamed Elzankaly

Patent number: 9292625Abstract: Systems and methods for determining alternative visual analytics are described. Visual analytics result from the application of visual analytic patterns that include instructions for generating visualizations of analytical data. Analytical data is the result of the execution of analytical operations specified in a report definition on an underlying business object. By analyzing the metadata associated with the report definition or visual analytic pattern, alternative visual analytic patterns may be determined that better represent the character of the analytical data. The metadata may include a mapping that associates alternative visual analytic patterns with a business object, a report definition, or another visual analytic pattern. Accordingly, the determination of the alternative visual analytic patterns may be based on the mappings. The alternative visual analytic pattern s may then be applied to the analytic data to generate one or more alternative visual analytics that may be selected by a user.Type: GrantFiled: September 23, 2013Date of Patent: March 22, 2016Assignee: SAP SEInventors: Harish Tyagi, Xiaojun Feng

Patent number: 8233748Abstract: Provided is an image-resolution-improvement apparatus and method which can increase the resolution of an input image at a high magnification to thereby obtain a high-quality final image. The apparatus includes a textured-region-detection unit to detect a texture region in an input image; and a final-image-generation unit to synthesize a first intermediate image and a second intermediate image, which are obtained by applying different interpolation techniques to the texture region and a non-texture region excluding the texture region and generating a final image.Type: GrantFiled: July 20, 2007Date of Patent: July 31, 2012Assignees: Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., Purdue Research FoundationInventors: Ho-young Lee, Jan P. Allebach, Xiaojun Feng, Yousun Bang, Heui-keun Choh

Patent number: 7776794Abstract: The invention relates to a biosensor comprising living cells that express a chemosensor, or receptor, on their surface. When grown on a microarray comprising electrodes, the cells can be induced, by binding of a ligand to the receptor, to secrete a molecule. This secretion event is detected with millisecond temporal resolution via electrochemical oxidation of the secreted molecule on the electrode which is voltage-clamped slightly above its redox potential. The current so generated is indicative of the amount of the ligand bound to the receptor.Type: GrantFiled: September 20, 2004Date of Patent: August 17, 2010Assignee: The Research Foundation of State University of New YorkInventors: Ben G. Szaro, James Castracane, Xiaojun Feng
