  • Publication number: 20210122982
Abstract: Techniques described herein relate to producing bitumen while monitoring various aspects of paraffinic froth treatment (PFT) operations using near infrared (NIR) spectrometry and chemometric analysis to continuously monitor and enable measurements of physical and chemical properties of various streams in PFT operations, which can be done in real time online and can facilitate process control. NIR spectrometry can be used to acquire NIR spectra measurements from a PFT process stream and the NIR spectra measurements and chemometric analysis can, in turn, be used to determine composition characteristics of the PFT process stream as well as operational features of a PFT process unit. For example, NIR spectra can be used to determine upward velocity in a PFT settler to facilitate settler operation for diluted bitumen quality control. NIR spectra can be obtained using reflectance or transmission probes which can be positioned within particular phase of a stratified PFT process stream.

  • Publication number: 20200332198
Abstract: Techniques provided herein relate to regulating at least one operating parameter of a paraffinic froth treatment (PFT) operation and controlling the quality of the produced bitumen in response to a determined concentration of at least one residual metal in a PFT process stream. Determination of the residual metal concentration is based on acquired NIR spectral measurements of the PFT process stream. An alkaline agent dosage in primary extraction operation can be for example regulated in response to a difference between a determined calcium concentration and a calcium concentration specification.

  • Publication number: 20200335854
Abstract: A mobile terminal and a mobile terminal antenna production method. The mobile terminal uses an insulation film layer on an insulation rear housing as a carrier of a radiating element of an antenna, and the radiating element is located within the entire mobile terminal, thereby effectively increasing a height of the radiating element of the antenna relative to a circuit board with the antenna not affecting an appearance of the mobile terminal. Compared with a conventional support solution, this manner can increase a height of about 0.2 mm to 0.6 mm This reduces an impact caused by a metal component on the circuit board on antenna radiation, and further increases a bandwidth and efficiency of the antenna so that the antenna can cover a frequency band used in a handheld communications system.

  • Publication number: 20200181499
Abstract: Described herein are methods and systems in which the alkaline dosage used for oil sands slurries fed into a primary separation vessel (PSV) is controlled based on a combination of clay content and process water characteristics. The dosage control can include operating within different dosage envelopes that correspond to respective combinations of clay content and dissolved solids content. Enhanced bitumen separation by the PSV and usage of alkaline compounds, such as caustic, can be facilitated by such methods.

  • Publication number: 20200099125
Abstract: An antenna and a mobile terminal are provided. At least two slots are disposed in a metal bezel of the mobile terminal, and the two slots divide the metal bezel into three metal sections. A radiating element of the antenna includes a second metal section located between the two slots, a first conductor, and a second conductor. The first conductor and the second conductor are separately connected to the second metal section. A feed point is connected to the first conductor by using a matching network. A ground point is connected to the second conductor to form a loop antenna. An electrical length path of a current from the feed point to the second metal section is not equal to an electrical length path of a current from the ground point to the second metal section.

  • Patent number: 10079427
Abstract: An antenna apparatus and a wireless communications device, where the antenna apparatus includes a feeding part, a grounding part, and a closed frame, where the closed frame encircles a main body of the wireless communications device. The feeding part and the grounding part are electrically connected to the closed frame, and the closed frame, the feeding part, and the grounding part form a first current loop and a second current loop, where resonance is generated between the first current loop and the second current loop. There is no need to dispose a slit on the closed frame of the wireless communications device that uses a metal appearance, and a position of the feeding part of a radio frequency feeder is used, to mitigate impact, of a closed environment caused by not disposing the slit on the closed frame, on antenna radiation performance, thereby improving antenna performance and user experience.

  • Publication number: 20120158342
Abstract: A method for measuring the weight of impurities in a mixed volume of fibers and impurities by mechanically separating the impurities are from the fibers, whereupon some undesired fibers still remain admixed to the impurities due to imperfections of the mechanical separation. A total weight of the separated impurities and the undesired fibers is gravimetrically measured. An image of the separated impurities and the undesired fibers is created. A weight of the undesired fibers is estimated from the image. The estimated weight of the undesired fibers is subtracted from the total weight to yield a corrected weight of the impurities. The mechanical separation and the subsequent electronic correction yield a more accurate weight of the impurities.

  • Publication number: 20060196812
Abstract: A method includes diluting a bitumen source, such a bitumen froth from a hot water extraction process, with a hydrocarbon diluent such as naphtha, contacting the bitumen with a zone settling aid such as a polyoxyalkylate block polymer, flocculating water and fine solids in the diluted bitumen, separating the flocculated water and fine solids from the solvent-diluted bitumen, and producing dry, clean diluted bitumen. Preferably, the diluted bitumen will have less than 1.0 wt % water, but most preferably less than 0.7 wt % water. The method may further comprise maintaining the diluted bitumen under conditions that avoid the precipitation of asphaltenes from the bitumen, preferably such that the dry, clean diluted bitumen comprises essentially all, such as greater than 96%, of the asphaltene content from the bitumen source. Counter-current flow may be performed in a series of zone settling stages, such as with gravity settling.

  • Publication number: 20050036702
Abstract: An invention for generating an enhanced DEPTH OF FIELD image from a set of images taken with the same point of view but different focus planes is disclosed. The enhanced DEPTH OF FIELD is generated irrespective of the order of images takes or number of images taken as long as the number of images is more than two. The input images will be processed, possibly center aligned, scaled to match one another exactly, then a sharpness image map is generated to represent the largest sharpness value of each pixel position and image index to indicate from which image, then a smooth process is performed to remove any artifacts possibly caused by bringing pixels from different images. Finally an enhanced DEPTH OF FIELD image is generated.

  • Patent number: 6049636
Abstract: An invention for determining a rectangular bounding box encompassing a photograph or object(s) represented within a digital image is disclosed. The rectangular bounding box is determined irrespective of the device used to acquire the digital image. First a set of contrast points is derived; these contrast points representing changes in the characteristics of a pixel from that of a traversed neighbor. After ordering the contrast points according to their radial angle around a central reference point, a list of lines is generated by selecting two points separated by q positions in the ordered list of contrast points. If the four lines generated the most often roughly form a rectangle, then they correspond to the sides of the rectangular bounding box. Else, the line with the highest count is used as a base side of the rectangular bounding box.
