  • Publication number: 20040224343
Abstract: Treatments of molecules with organic chemicals or bipolar reagents are used to enhance the interactions among or between molecules such as binding between proteins and antibodies or between nuclear acids. Such organic chemicals or bipolar reagents include alcohols, detergent, ester and ether. Treatments of molecules with the organic chemicals or bipolar reagents can take place before or during interactions among or between molecules. Enhancing intensities are about 2 to 100 times depending on molecules, organic chemicals or bipolar reagents and timing to treat molecules.

  • Publication number: 20040224344
Abstract: This invention presents a set of methods to extract DNA, RNA and protein simultaneously from biomaterials by reagents with high pH. DNA and RNA can be extracted from a upper aqueous phase simultaneously either together as a DNA and RNA mixture or separated DNA and RNA. Protein can be extracted from lower organic phase. The DNA and RNA mixture can be used either as DNA or RNA directly depending on applications without further separation, or as resource for the separated DNA and RNA that can be selected from the DNA and RNA mixture by selective precipitation and/or by selective enzyme digestions. This invention provides the choice of extraction either of DNA and RNA mixture or of separated DNA and RNA simultaneously, as well as extraction of protein from the same piece of biomaterials in high quality, which is very critical for biomaterials with limited resource, such as clinical specimens.

  • Patent number: 6773894
Abstract: The invention provides methods of separating and isolating protein from at least three subcellular compartments of a single biological sample in a single container. Methods are also provided for determining the subcellular compartmentalization of proteins of interest in a biological sample. Furthermore, methods are provided for fingerprinting a biological sample, as well as identifying a sample type, a cancerous tissue or a developmental stage of a tissue sample. Kits for separating and isolating subcellularly compartmentalized proteins in a biological sample are also provided.

  • Patent number: 6723514
Abstract: This invention concerns novel methods and compositions useful for directly and rapidly analyzing the biochemical components of microorganisms. The compositions and methods of the present invention obviate the need for extracting and purifying the biochemicals prior to analysis.

  • Publication number: 20040029168
Abstract: This invention presents the high throughput (HT) analysis technology for molecular fractions employing micro-array format. Molecules are fractionated according to the properties of molecules and are assigned primary designated orders while their tissue origins are assigned secondary designated orders such that each fractionated molecules become addressable and traceable. Fractionated molecules are recovered, arrayed, and analyzed according to the same primary designated orders and secondary designated order in a high throughput manner. The above properties of molecules can be measured and predicted. This invention provides advantages such as higher sensitivity, lower consume of materials for molecules, high throughput platform and capability to create database directly when compared to existing analysis methods for molecular fractions.
