    Abstract: A method is applied to a first device in the communication system, the communication that includes a second device, the first device and the second device both include first metadata that is used to describe at least one data category, and the at least one data category is a data category to which a data value that is sent by the first device to the second device belongs. In the method, the first device obtains a first data block based on the first metadata, where the first data block includes a data value that belongs to the at least one data category. The first device sends the first data block to the second device. The second device is configured to parse the first data block based on the first metadata, to obtain the data value.
