    Abstract: Dipole antennas for use in the VHF and UHF band are provided. In one example, a dipole antenna includes a linear antenna support. The dipole antenna includes one or more reflector elements positioned on a first section of the antenna support. The dipole antenna includes one or more director elements positioned on a second section of the antenna support. The dipole antenna includes a driven element positioned in a middle section of the antenna support, the middle section being between the first section and the second section. The driven element includes a first leg and a second leg. Each of the first leg and the second leg includes a first conductor extending from the antenna support; a second conductor extending from the first conductor at a direction generally perpendicular to the first conductor; and a third conductor extending from the second conductor.

    Abstract: A switchable antenna assembly is provided. The switchable antenna assembly includes a substrate, a ground plane disposed on the substrate, and a feed. The switchable antenna assembly includes a first planar antenna element extending from the ground plane in a first direction. The first planar antenna element is coupled to the feed by a first transmission line and is configured to produce a first radiation pattern. The switchable antenna assembly includes a second planar antenna element extending from the ground plane in a second direction orthogonal to the first direction of first planar antenna element and is configured to produce a second radiation pattern. The switchable antenna assembly includes a single pole—two-throw switching element configured to selectively couple one of the first transmission line or the second transmission line to the feed.

    Abstract: The present invention discloses a preparation method for a fluorinated POSS/polysiloxane hybrid coating and the anti-icing application thereof The coating is prepared by mixing fluorinatedpolyhedral oligomericsilsesquioxanes (fluorinated POSS) comprising Si-H bonds and fluoro alkyl chains in the eight vertices with polysiloxane, and subsequently curing via hydrosilylation. Fluorinated POSS aggregates on the surface of the polysiloxane hybrid coating due to the low surface energy fluorinated chains, leading to the generation of micro/nano-sized wrinkles. The wrinkles, together with lubricant, contribute to the low water contact angle hysteresis (as low as 2°) and ice shear strength (as low as 20 kPa). The required materials are easy to obtain, and the preparation is simple and controllable. All the above make it promising as anti-icing coatings.
