  • Patent number: 8891916
Abstract: A surface-plasmon-polaritons (SPPs) tunable optical resonant ring filter that includes an SPPs waveguide, an SPPs tunable directional coupler, and an SPPs tunable resonant ring. The tunabilities of the resonant frequency, the resonant depth, and the filtering bandwidth are achieved by tuning the loss and transmission phase of the resonant ring and the coupling ratio of the directional coupler. Since the metal core layer of the SPPs waveguide is capable of multiplexing electro-optical signals, the SPPs tunable optical resonant ring filter can be used not only in an integrated optics system, but also in an integrated electro-optics hybrid system.

  • Patent number: 8640542
Abstract: A cantilever beam structural resonant-type integrated optical waveguide accelerometer, includes an input waveguide (1), a dissymmetrical structural Mach-Zehnder interferometer (2), a micro-mechanical vibration cantilever beam (3), a short curved waveguide (4) and an output waveguide (5); all the waveguide structures and the cantilever beam use the integrated optical micromachining technique, and the device single-scale integration can be realized by using the temperature-insensitive organic polymer optical waveguide structure and the organic polymer substrate, the key technique indexes such as detection sensitivity, dynamic range are extensively adjusted. The phase difference of the optical signal can be measured by detecting the optical intensity of the resonant frequency of the optical circuit so as to achieve high sensitive acceleration detection, and to be free from the effect of the ambient temperature disturbance and waveguide birefringence.

  • Publication number: 20130332765
Abstract: A method and system for reducing acoustic power supply noise, specifically acoustic noise related to power supply switching frequencies in a computing device, is disclosed. In one embodiment, a controller can monitor power consumed by the computing device, and an operational state of the computing device can be determined. If the computing device is in a first operational state and the power consumed is greater than a threshold amount, then the power supply can be operated at a first switching frequency or mode of operation, thereby avoiding switching frequencies that can produce acoustic noise.

  • Publication number: 20130148385
Abstract: The disclosed embodiments provide a system that operates a flyback converter. During operation, the system senses an input voltage for the flyback converter. Next, the system uses the input voltage to determine a negative peak current that enables zero voltage switching for a primary switch in the flyback converter. Finally, the system uses the negative peak current to perform the zero voltage switching for the primary switch based on the input voltage, wherein the negative peak current reduces a power loss of the flyback converter.

  • Publication number: 20100080026
Abstract: A power converter that is operable to convert AC power into DC power that may be delivered to a load. The power converter operates to bypass a power factor correction (PFC) circuit during a portion of each AC power cycle. The power converter bypasses the PFC circuit when an AC input voltage is greater than a DC output voltage. The power converter may also include sensing circuitry to sense the AC input voltage and the DC output voltage of the power converter. The power converter may include one or more diodes that function to deliver power directly to a load when the AC input voltage is greater than the DC output voltage, thereby bypassing the PFC circuit. The DC output voltage of the power converter may be regulated to a level that is less than the peak AC input voltage.
