Abstract: A method for testing an implementation of a specification is provided. The method includes providing a security manager capable of being configured to test compliance of an implementation of a specification, and installing the security manager. The method further includes constructing a security policy corresponding to a desired security environment that a test requires. The method also includes executing the test with the security manager using the security policy.

Abstract: Methods for qualifying the accuracy of a circuit board may include providing a printing mask pattern for first and second sides of the circuit board with a first sequence of spaced indicia parallel to a first edge of the printed circuit board, and a second sequence of spaced indicia parallel to a second edge of the printed circuit board opposite the first edge. A layer of visually conspicuous material may be printed on the board using the mask patterns. The board may be separated or cut to a predetermined size thereby removing, at least a portion of the spaced indicia of each sequence. The number of indicia printed on the first and second sides respectively of the circuit board may be determined after the circuit board is cut to the predetermined size. The circuit board may be accepted or rejected based upon the numerical determination against a qualification criteria.

Abstract: A fiber optic communications cable for providing a short range, high speed data communications link between information system units, including an optical fiber with an integral housing at each end having an electrical connector extending from the housing and adapted to mate with a corresponding electrical connector on an external information system unit for transferring an information signal between the cable and the unit. A signal converter in the integral housing's converts the information signal between an electrical signal and a corresponding optical signal.

Abstract: A printed circuit board having a pattern of fiducial marks on opposed edges of the board for assuring accuracy and alignment of an electrical connector printed on the board. The fiducial marks are printed as staggered indicia extending orthogoral to the printed contact row array of the electrical connector so that when the board is cut or routed, an inspection process can determine if the physical edges of the board, which determine the pin alignment with a mating receptacle, are within specification.

Abstract: An invention is provided for an application manager testing interface that provides a public API usable by testing software. The application manager testing interface allows testing software to issue commands to an application manager to test the life cycle and state management abilities of the application manager. A testing program capable of providing commands to test a life cycle of a dependent program controlled by an application manager is provided. In addition, an application manager testing interface is included that is in communication with the testing program and the application manager. The application manager testing interface is capable of receiving the commands from the testing program and providing the commands to the application manager. In this manner, the application manager can control the dependent program based on the commands. In one aspect, the testing program can be controlled by the application manager.

The housing includes a fiber optic connector adapted for coupling with an external optical fiber for transmitting and/or receiving an optical communications signal. The rigid printed circuit board is within the housing and includes an electrical connector for coupling with an external electrical cable or information system device, and for transmitting and/or receiving an information-containing electrical communications signal. A first interface connector is for receiving or transferring the electrical signal. A flexible printed circuit board is also within the housing and coupled to the rigid printed circuit board, including a second interface connector for mating with the first interface connector, and transmitting or receiving the electrical signal to or from the rigid printed circuit board.

Abstract: This invention provides a semiconductor laser device, such as a Vertical Cavity Surface-Emitting Laser (VCSEL) device which includes a Distributed Bragg Reflector (DBR) made up of layers which are co-doped with different dopants. For instance, a p-type DBR produced by organometallic vapor-phase epitaxy (OMPVE) includes layers having, respectively, a low refractive index and a high refractive index, the layers being made, respectively, of high-Al AlGaAs and low-Al AlGaAs. According to the invention, C, by itself or in addition to Mg, is used as the dopant in the high-Al AlGaAs layers, and Mg is used in the low-Al AlGaAs layers. Because of this co-doping, the semiconductor laser device achieves low series resistance and operating voltage, with good manufacturability.
