  • Patent number: 12626446
Abstract: Aspects and features of the present disclosure provide a direct ray tracing operator with a low memory footprint for surfaces enriched with displacement maps. A graphics editing application can be used to manipulate displayed representations of a 3D object that include surfaces with displacement textures. The application creates an independent map of a displaced surface. The application ray-traces bounding volumes on the fly and uses the intersection of a query ray with a bounding volume to produce rendering information for a displaced surface. The rendering information can be used to generate displaced surfaces for various base surfaces without significant re-computation so that updated images can be rendered quickly, in real time or near real time.

  • Publication number: 20260087600
Abstract: In implementing per-asset denoising for real-time rendering of neural radiance fields (NeRFs), a processing device receives a three-dimensional (3D) representation of a scene as a NeRF. The processing device generates an intermediate rendering of the scene using the NeRF. The intermediate rendering is denoised using a machine-learning model to generate a final rendering. The machine-learning model is trained on another rendering of this scene, which was rendered using a non-real-time, high-quality rendering scheme. In other words, the machine-learning model is optimized for each scene and provides a lightweight denoising network to provide real-time NeRF rendering while maintaining the high-quality visuals of non-real-time rendering schemes. The final rendering is then presented via a display device.

  • Patent number: 12561896
Abstract: This disclosure describes methods, non-transitory computer readable storage media, and systems that generate realistic shading for three-dimensional objects inserted into digital images. The disclosed system utilizes a light encoder neural network to generate a representation embedding of lighting in a digital image. Additionally, the disclosed system determines points of the three-dimensional object visible within a camera view. The disclosed system generates a self-occlusion map for the digital three-dimensional object by determining whether fixed sets of rays uniformly sampled from the points intersects with the digital three-dimensional object. The disclosed system utilizes a generator neural network to determine a shading map for the digital three-dimensional object based on the representation embedding of lighting in the digital image and the self-occlusion map.

  • Patent number: 12561897
Abstract: Techniques for generation of compressed representations for appearance of fiber-based digital assets are described that support computationally efficient and high fidelity rendering of digital assets that include fiber primitives under a variety of lighting conditions and view directions. A processing device, for instance, receives a digital asset that includes fiber primitives to be included in a three-dimensional digital scene. The processing device generates a compressed representation of the digital asset that maintains a geometry of the digital asset and includes a precomputed light transport. The processing device then inserts the compressed representation into the digital scene, such as at a location relative to one or more light sources. The processing device applies one or more lighting effects to the compressed representation based on the precomputed light transport and the location relative to the one or more light sources.

  • Publication number: 20260051102
Abstract: In implementations of techniques and systems for digital hair simulation using an augmented mass-spring model, a processing device receives a hair model including multiple hair strands and a head geometry. Each hair strand is discretized into multiple particles connected by multiple first springs. The processing device also defines a rest configuration for each hair strand with ghost positions corresponding to the position of the multiple particles in the rest configuration. Each particle is connected to the rest configuration by second springs. The processing device then simulates the movement of the hair strands in response to an input action using the first and second springs. The simulated movement is presented via a display device.

  • Patent number: 12552679
Abstract: The present disclosure provides a preparation method of nano-aluminum oxide (nano-Al2O3) with a controllable hydroxyl content, belonging to the technical field of nano-alumina. H2O2 dissolved in water dissociates a large number of hydroxyl radicals. In the present disclosure, a resulting H2O2 solution is used as a solvent for precipitation; during the precipitation, a soluble aluminum salt and a pore-enlarging agent are reacted to generate a precipitate under alkaline conditions, and the hydroxyl radicals are distributed on a surface of the precipitate. During drying, the hydroxyl radicals are converted into bound water and distributed on a surface and in pores of an aluminum hydroxide precursor; during roasting, the bound water is destroyed to form hydroxyl. The hydroxyl content of the nano-Al2O3 can be regulated by controlling a concentration of the H2O2 solution, and the nano-Al2O3 has the hydroxyl content positively correlated with the concentration of the H2O2 solution.

  • Publication number: 20260017865
Abstract: In implementations of techniques and systems for digital hair generation using a parametric hair model, a processing device receives a shape parameter and a style parameter. The shape parameter represents the overall shape of a hair model, and the style parameter represents local strand details. Based on the shape parameter, a machine-learning model generates guide strands that sparsely represent the hair model. The machine-learning model also generates wisps based on the style parameter. The wisps indicate local strand details for the hair model. The processing device interpolates the wisps onto the guide strands to generate the digital hair model.
