Abstract: An electronic device includes a display, an illumination sensor, a distance detecting unit, a storage unit and a control unit. The illumination sensor periodically detects a current ambient illumination. The distance detecting unit periodically detects a current distance between a user and the electronic device. The control unit determines a corresponding current illumination level, and compares the current illumination level with a historical illumination level. If the current illumination level differs from the historical illumination level, the control unit further compares the current distance with a historical distance. If the current distance differs from the historical distance, the control unit maintains the brightness of the display; otherwise, the control unit adjusts the brightness of the display according to the illumination level.

Abstract: A supporting apparatus for an electronic device includes a mounting mechanism, and a supporting assembly. The mounting mechanism includes a fixing bracket fixed to the electronic device, and a latching member mounted to the fixing bracket. The supporting assembly includes a mount, and a locking member fixed to the mount. The locking member includes a locking tab and a locking tongue opposite to the locking tab. The latch member is slidable between a locking position, where the latch member abuts the locking tongue to preventing the fixing bracket from moving away from the locking member, and an unlocking position, where the latch member disengages from the locking tongue to enable the fixing bracket to move away from the locking member.

Abstract: A computing device and method starts applications via voice commands. The computing device records a sound input by a microphone of the computing device and sends the recorded sound input to a sound sensor of the computing device. Furthermore, the computing device reads a voice command by an embedded controller of the computing device from the sound sensor, in response to a determination that the recorded sound input matches a predetermined verbal statement of the voice command. The computing device notifies an operating system of the computing device to start the application corresponding to the voice command.

Abstract: An improved mammalian expression vector system which allows: (1) highly expressing exogenous proteins in host mammalian cells; (2) rapidly and efficiently screening recombinant stable cell lines expressing the gene of interest; (3) maintain sustainable expression and prevent gene silencing; and (4) effectively secreting proteins into media in some of cases. The entire expression vector system includes optimized promoters and core promoters, the use of special internal ribosome entry sites, integration of the bacterial backbone into the mammalian expression unit, multiple choices of selection markers, artificial matrix attachment region elements, effective secreting lead sequences and their 5? and 3? UTRs, and proper combinations of these expression elements.
