A backlight circuit is operable to adjust a driving current that drives a backlight unit of the liquid crystal panel in response to the control signal. When the difference is positive, the control signal reduces the driving current; and when the difference is negative, the control signal enhances the driving current.

The driving method includes: dividing a saturation interval of an original image frame to be displayed by a display panel into a plurality of sub-saturation intervals; obtaining saturation values corresponding to each of the pixels in the original image frame; calculating numbers of pixels in the original image frame falling within each of the sub-saturation intervals in accordance with the saturation values corresponding to each of the pixels. In this way, the backlight brightness outputted by the backlight module may be adjusted in accordance with the saturation values of the original image frame so as to enhance the low brightness issue when a pure-color image is displayed by the display panel configured with RGBW sub-pixels.

With the configuration of the touch scanning partitions, the voltage potentials of the pixel electrodes within each of the areas are adopted to respectively adjust the feed-backed touch pulse signals such that the display scanning and the touch scanning can be conducted simultaneously. The detection precision of the touch pulse signals may be enhanced without affecting the display performance.

A first pixel signal of an image to be displayed is converted to a second pixel signal. An adjusted gray scale of each of sub-pixels and/or an adjusted backlight brightness of a backlight is acquired based on the second pixel signal and the first pixel signal. Each of the sub-pixels in the liquid crystal display panel is driven so that each of the sub-pixels can have a corresponding adjusted gray scale, and/or, the backlight is activated so that the backlight can have the adjusted backlight brightness. With the driving device and the driving method, it is able to ensure that when the RGBW liquid crystal display panel displays a solid colored image, the brightness of the image will not be reduced.
