    Abstract: A radar system may generate weather data using a monopulse technique. Monopulse may divide antennas into halves, enabling a comparison between the halves using a single scan compared to multiple scans. The comparison can be used to estimate the angle of arrival for a given target. The angle of arrival can be compared to a theoretical model to make weather clutter decision, using only one scan. This method eliminates target scintillation by removing the time lag that is present while performing sequential operation thereby reducing the amount of temporal filtering. This greatly enhances weather detection performance while also allowing the radar to perform additional functions. Using monopulse, as opposed to traditional radar systems, may reduce the number of scans in half thereby allowing the radar system to perform other autonomy related functions.

    Abstract: A system and method for distinguishing targets of interest from main lobe clutter and sidelobe clutter includes an ESA or AESA divided into subarrays. A sum beam power profile is produced via one or more scans of the subarrays, and a difference beam power profile is produced via calculations involving the subarrays. A comparison of the sum beam power profile and the difference beam power profile accentuates signal power disparities between targets of interest and clutter. A threshold is then applied to isolate targets of interest. Different difference beam power profiles may be used for elevation comparisons and azimuth comparisons. Alternatively, subarrays may be selected such that the same difference beam power profile may be used for both elevation and azimuth. Scans may be time multiplexed such that data from different scans may be used to produce the sum beam power profile, the difference beam power profile, or both.

The processing circuitry may further compare the power and reflectivity values to threshold values to determine the presence of ice water content. The processing circuitry may display different colors on a display for areas in which the power and reflectivity values are lower than the threshold values.

    Abstract: The present invention discloses a support mechanism of a self-adaptive traction robot for a complex wellbore and a control method thereof, and relates to the technical field of oil and gas field development. Each support link assembly in a support mechanism is controlled by an independent hydraulic cylinder and hydraulic valve. When a well wall that each support link assembly contacts in a circumferential direction is irregular, the support mechanism contact effect is not ideal, which leads to a decrease in traction force. In this case, a displacement sensor in a telescopic mechanism detects that a displacement of a traction cylinder piston is small, which is fed back to a ground control system, and then a fluid inflow size of support cylinders corresponding to different support link assemblies is adjusted until the displacement sensor in the telescopic mechanism detects an effective traction distance.

    Abstract: A system and method for ground calibration of an aircraft weather radar (W×R) employs a calibrated W×R already flight tested on a reference aircraft to generate a ground reference map from a specific ground position on a specific heading. A W×R alignment tool receives the ground reference map and compares it to an uncalibrated ground map generated by an uncalibrated W×R in the same ground position and on the same heading. Once compared, the alignment tool determines a delta between the ground reference map and the uncalibrated ground map and determines offset values in pitch, roll, and elevation to reduce the delta to a desired operational value and make the maps nearly identical. The alignment tool then applies to offset values to the uncalibrated W×R to calibrate the W×R for operational use.
