Abstract: A camera system includes a digital recording unit. The camera system further includes a camera adapter having a first cable having a connector that connects to a digital connection port of the digital recording unit, and a second cable that connects to a camera port of an analog camera. The camera adapter may include first and second processors that are configured to convert analog audio and/or video signals from the analog camera into digital audio and/or video signals and transmit the digital signals to the digital recording unit through the first cable. The camera adapter may be configured to supply power from the digital connection port of the digital recording unit to the camera port of the analog camera.
