In the present invention, catechol and diethyl carbonate are subjected to a transesterification reaction under the action of a catalyst to obtain 2-ethoxyphenol and 1,3-benzodioxol-2-one. In the present invention, the combined selectivity of 2-ethoxyphenol and 1,3-benzodioxol-2-one can reach 97%. The method has the advantages of high conversion rate, high selectivity, high economic benefit, environmental friendliness and the like.
