  • Patent number: 6888047
Abstract: The invention relates to recombinant DNA constructs, a method for producing a recombinant biologically active protein in vivo in the urine of a non-human mammal using a kidney-specific promoter, such as the uromodulin promoter, and the transgenic non-human mammals that serve as urine-based bioreactors for protein production.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 26, 2000
Date of Patent: May 3, 2005
    Assignee: New York University
    Inventors: Xue-Ru Wu, Tung-Tien Sun
  • Patent number: 6632431
Abstract: The present invention relates to an anti-idiotypic antibody or antigen-binding fragment against FimH adhesin of uropathogenic Type I-fimbriated Escherichia coli and an immunizing composition containing such an anti-idiotypic antibody or antigen-binding fragment thereof as an active immunizing component. The present invention also relates to a method for stimulating and enhancing the production of antibodies which recognize and bind to FimH of uropathogenic Type-I-fimbriated Escherichia coli, but not to FimH of non-uropathogenic Type I-fimbriated Escherichia coli.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 10, 2001
Date of Patent: October 14, 2003
    Assignee: New York University

  • Publication number: 20020009745
Abstract: The human gene for uroplakin II is identified and sequenced. Using this gene, oligonucleotide primers were constructed which were then used to identify bladder cancer cells in blood and tissue.
    Type: Application
    Filed: June 1, 2001
    Publication date: January 24, 2002
    Applicant: NEW YORK UNIVERSITY

  • Patent number: 6323390
Abstract: A transgenic mouse, containing an oncogene or a tumor suppressor gene operably linked to a urothelium-specific promoter in its germ cells and somatic cells serves as an animal model system for human bladder cancer.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 22, 1998
Date of Patent: November 27, 2001
    Assignee: New York University
    Inventors: Xue-Ru Wu, Tung-Tien Sun
  • Patent number: 6290959
Abstract: Uroplakins Ia and Ib are the major urothelial receptors of type 1 fimbriated microorganisms. These uroplakins are used to screen compounds for treating urinary tract infections by testing if the compounds inhibit bacterial adhesion to the uroplakins. Additionally, compounds which inhibit adhesion of microorganisms expressing type 1 fimbriae, such as Tamm-Horsfall protein, are used to treat or inhibit infection by these microorganisms.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 24, 1997
Date of Patent: September 18, 2001
    Assignee: New York University
    Inventors: Xue-Ru Wu, Tung-Tien Sun
