  • Publication number: 20040235981
    Abstract: A shelf-stable two-part self-adhering dental composition and method.
    Type: Application
    Filed: May 19, 2003
    Publication date: November 25, 2004
    Applicant: Kerr Corporation
    Inventor: Xuejun Qian
  • Publication number: 20040039079
Abstract: A composition and a method of use as a dental restorative. A series of highly alkoxylated tri-functional monomers are used as a low viscosity monomer in a photo- or self-curable dental composition that resulted in low polymerization shrinkage. The mechanical strength of the restorative material was not compromised. The restorative composition may be used as a dental filling material, a cement, a liner/base, or an adhesive.

  • Publication number: 20040002557
Abstract: A dental composition comprising a silver-containing ceramic having antimicrobial and color stabilizing properties and methods for using the composition. The composition comprises a silver-containing glass powder or a silver-containing zeolite powder, at least one monomer having at least one ethylenically unsaturated group, and a polymerization initiator system. Other components, such as a filler, may also be included. The inventive composition possesses antimicrobial properties and exhibits excellent mechanical properties upon curing. Additionally, when the polymerization initiator is a two-part redox initiator system, the composition has improved color stability. The inventive composition can be used as a dental restorative composition, an endodontic composition, an orthodontic composition, and/or a prosthetic composition.
    Type: Application

  • Patent number: 6472454
Abstract: A two part composition for sealing and/or filling root canals. One or more elastomeric (meth)acrylate oligomers are mixed with one or more diluent comonomers, one or more radiopaque fillers and one or more polymerization initiator systems. One or more antimicrobial agents may also be included in the composition. The components are mixed, undergo a setting reaction and are subsequently cured. In use, the composition is easily removed from the tooth structure if rework is needed, yet provides a tight and effective seal in the root canal. The composition also has a desirable flowable consistency and exhibits good adhesiveness with a tooth substrate.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 8, 2000
Date of Patent: October 29, 2002
    Assignee: Kerr Corporation

  • Patent number: 6127451
Abstract: Dental restorative compositions of the composite resin/glass ionomer hybrid type and resins used in the compositions. The compositions contain an aromatic-moiety-containing polymerizable resin, a finely divided ion-leachable fluoroaluminosilicate glass filler, a polymerization initiator system, and may contain other components. The aromatic-moiety-containing polymerizable resin has at least one carboxylic acid group and at least one ethylenically unsaturated group such as a (meth)acrylate group. The compositions have improved mechanical strength, improved wear resistance, and sustained long-term fluoride release.
