  • Publication number: 20130109581
Abstract: The invention provides methods for detecting the presence of an aggregate in a sample by contacting the sample suspected of containing an aggregate with an aggregate-specific binding reagent under conditions that allow the binding of the reagent to the aggregate, if present; and detecting the presence of the aggregate, if any, in the sample by its binding to the reagent; where the aggregate-specific binding reagent typically has a net charge of at least about positive one at the pH at which the sample is contacted with the ASB reagent, is attached to a solid support at a charge density of at least about 60 nmol net charge per square meter, and binds preferentially with aggregates over monomers when attached to the solid support. • Publication number: 20110287239
Abstract: An erosion resistant coating for a substrate includes two or more coating layers affixed to the substrate having an increasing modulus of elasticity and hardness from an innermost layer of the coating adjacent to the substrate to an outermost layer of the coating furthest from the substrate. A method of applying a coating system to a substrate includes applying a first layer of a high hardness and high modulus of elasticity material combined with an added metal to the substrate. A second layer of the high hardness and high modulus of elasticity material combined with the added metal is applied to the first layer, resulting in a coating system wherein the second layer has a modulus of elasticity and hardness greater than the modulus of elasticity and hardness of the first layer.

  • Publication number: 20110189692
Abstract: The invention provides methods for detecting the presence of a non-prion pathogenic conformer in a sample by contacting the sample suspected of containing a non-prion pathogenic conformer with a pathogenic conformer-specific binding reagent under conditions that allow the binding of the reagent to the pathogenic conformer, if present; and detecting the presence the pathogenic conformer, if any, in the sample by its binding to the reagent; where the pathogenic conformer-specific binding reagent is typically derived from a prion protein fragment and interacts preferentially with a pathogenic prion protein. Methods for diagnosis of conformational diseases are also provided.

  • Publication number: 20100252805
Abstract: A method of preparing nanorod arrays using ion beam implantation is described that includes defining a pattern on a substrate and then implanting ions into the substrate using ion beam implantation. Next, a thin film is deposited on the substrate. During film growth, nanotrenches form and catalyze the formation of nanorods through capillary condensation. The resulting nanorods are aligned with the supporting matrix and are free from lattice and thermal strain effect. The density, size, and aspect ratios of the nanorods can be varied by changing the ion beam implantation and thin film growth conditions resulting in control of emission efficiency.

  • Patent number: 7133520
Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided for assigning agents of an automatic call distributor to incoming calls of a plurality of call types handled by the automatic call distributor. The method includes the steps of determining a target occupancy matrix including a target occupancy for each agent of the agents of the automatic call distributor for each call type of the plurality of call types. The method further includes the steps of processing a call of a first type of the types determined in the target occupancy matrix and assigning the call to an agent of the agents of the automatic call distributor with a largest relative difference between an actual occupancy of calls of the first type handled by the agent and the target occupancy of calls of the first type determined for the agent in the target occupancy matrix.
