Patent number: 8490929Abstract: A universal beam clamp connector accommodates either a fixed attachment or a swivel attachment of a threaded rod to a support beam clamp. The beam clamp connector includes a connector portion and a threaded rod extender. A threaded rod extender has a cylindrical shape and an exterior surface with threading thereon. The connector portion includes a topside, a tool engaging portion and a central body extending therebetween. The threaded rod extender protrudes from the top side and the tool engaging portion protrudes from the central body. The central body includes an opening therethrough. The opening is defined by a top inner surface, a bottom inner surface and two opposing side inner surfaces. A nut is used to secure a threaded rod of a device to the beam clamp connector.Type: GrantFiled: August 12, 2009Date of Patent: July 23, 2013Assignee: Thomas & Betts International, Inc.Inventor: Xueming Cai

Patent number: 8091839Abstract: A pipe clamp secures an elongate article such as a pipe to as structural channel. The pipe clamp includes a pair of elongate pipe straps each having one end for securement to the structural channel and an opposed end mutually interconnectable. The opposed end of one of the pipe straps is insertable into an aperture in the opposed end of the other pipe strap. A threaded fastener movably couples the ends to compressively secure the pipe strap to the structural channel about the article.Type: GrantFiled: July 29, 2005Date of Patent: January 10, 2012Assignee: Thomas & Betts International, Inc.Inventors: Charles E. Whipple, Joey D. Magno, Jr., Xueming Cai

Patent number: 8001660Abstract: A device for gripping a cable is presented that has a retention member rotatably disposed within a cable guide such that upon entrance of the cable within an entrance port, the cable moves between the retention member and a wall, causing the retention member to simultaneously rotate and move toward the exit port and away from the wall until it abuts the exit wall and rotates in place as the cable is pushed out the exit port. When the cable is pulled toward the entrance port, the retention member simultaneously rotates and moves toward the entrance port and the wall, wedging the cable between the wall and the retention member.Type: GrantFiled: October 31, 2007Date of Patent: August 23, 2011Assignee: Thomas & Betts International, IncInventors: Xueming Cai, Joey Magno

Patent number: 7850494Abstract: A cable connector having a one-piece body with a termination end for terminating an electrical cable and a clamping end for clamping to a terminal post is provided. The cable connector's clamping end may include a pair of spaced apart deformably movable clamping arms for supporting the terminal post therebetween. A lever attached to the movable arms may also be provided where the lever may be actuable between a first position urging the arms towards one another to clamp the clamping end to the terminal post and a second position urging the arms apart so as to unclamp the arms from the terminal post to permit removal of the connector body from the terminal post.Type: GrantFiled: October 1, 2008Date of Patent: December 14, 2010Assignee: Thomas & Betts International, Inc.Inventors: Joey D. Magno, Jr., Xueming Cai, Jerry Woodward

Publication number: 20060196016Abstract: A device is provided for gripping a cable having a free end. The device includes a first entrance port for receiving the free end of the cable. A first exit port is in communication with the first entrance port from where the free end of the cable exits the device. A second entrance port is included for receiving the free end of the cable after it leaves the exit port. A second exit port is in communication with the second entrance port where the free end of the cable exits the device for the second time. A first cable guide forms a pathway between the first entrance port and the first exit port. A first retention member is slidably disposed within the first cable guide such that the first retention member slides axially within the device only upon entrance of the cable within the first cable guide or when the cable is pulled toward the first entrance port.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 1, 2006Publication date: September 7, 2006Inventors: Xueming Cai, Paul Bartholomew

Patent number: 7017237Abstract: A high performance cable tie includes an elongate strap, and a head extending from one end of the strap. The strap and pawl teeth each have convex portions which engage one another during insertion of the strap through the head. The strap and pawl teeth also each have planar portions which engage one another to obstruct retraction of the strap from the head. The longitudinal spacing of the strap and pawl teeth are equivalent. The surface of the pawl between the exit end of the passageway and the pawl tooth nearest thereto has a concave portion which engages the convex portion of the opposing strap tooth when the pawl pivots in response to retraction of the strap from the head. This pivoting of the pawl is limited by a heel which engages an inner surface of the head.Type: GrantFiled: December 2, 2003Date of Patent: March 28, 2006Assignee: Thomas & Betts International, Inc.Inventors: Joey D. Magno, Jr., Xueming Cai
