  • Publication number: 20240151646
Abstract: Luminescent imaging films (100) for fluorescent enhancement and methods of making and using the same are provided. The films (100) include a flexible carrier layer (1109, and a pattern of photonic structure (120) disposed on the flexible carrier layer, which is interspersed with an anti-biofouling material (130) to provide a pattern of analyte sites (132). The pattern of photonic structure includes a patterned high-refractive-index dielectric material surface (123) so as to provide resonance at the excitation or emission wavelength to enhance a fluorescence signal from labeled analytes.

  • Publication number: 20230213758
Abstract: An optical combiner includes a first layer with a periodic arrangement of structures of a material with a first refractive index. A second layer overlies the structures on the first layer, and the second layer includes a material with a second refractive index. A difference between the first refractive index and the second refractive index, measured at 587.5 nm, is less than 1.5. The periodic arrangement of structures is configured such that the optical combiner produces, for an input signal incident on the first layer from air at an oblique elevation angle of greater than 20°, an output signal with three reflection peaks, each reflection peak having an average reflection of greater than 50% within a ±3° range of the elevation angle.

  • Publication number: 20230213757
Abstract: An optical combiner includes a first layer with a periodic two-dimensional arrangement of structures arranged to support resonance for an input signal of a target wavelength, wherein the structures have a first refractive index. A second layer overlies the structures on the first layer, wherein the second layer includes a second material with a second refractive index, and wherein a difference between the first refractive index and the second refractive index, measured at 587.5 nm, is less than about 1.5. The periodic arrangement of structures is configured such that the optical combiner produces, for the input signal incident on the first layer from air at an oblique elevation angle of greater than about 20°, an output signal with a reflection peak with an average reflection of greater than about 50% within a ± 5° range of the elevation angle.

  • Patent number: 11537025
Abstract: Embodiments relate to a photonic component having a metasurface. The metasurface includes a substrate with a thin-layer of meta-atoms disposed thereon. The photonic component includes a waveguide having a top surface, wherein the metasurface is disposed on at least a portion of the top surface such that the meta-atoms form an array on the top surface. The photonic component includes a sandwich nano-bar antenna formed in or on the metasurface.
    Type: Grant
