  • Publication number: 20090224950
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for entropy decoding are disclosed. Compressed input data representing one or more signals is loaded into one or more registers. A first candidate value for a most probable signal case is prepared from the input data. A second candidate value for a least probable signal case is prepared from the input data. A final signal value for the one or more signals is selected from the first and second candidate values and an output bin value is generated based on the final signal value. • Patent number: 7324691
Abstract: A system and method for shape recognition of hand-drawn objects is provided. A shape recognizer may recognize a drawing such as a diagram or chart from ink input by recognizing closed containers and/or unclosed connectors in the drawing. The closed containers may represent any number of shapes that may be recognized including circles, ellipses, triangles, quadrilaterals, pentagons, hexagons, and so forth. The unclosed connectors may be any type of connector including lines, curves, arrows, and so forth. Polylines may be used to approximate a skeleton of a connector for handling continuation strokes, overlapping strokes and over-tracing strokes of the skeleton. By using the present invention, a user may draw diagrams and flow charts freely and without restrictions on the hand-drawn input.

  • Publication number: 20070230372
Abstract: A peer-aware voice stream ranking method that makes decisions based on information about participants of a voice conference over a network. Whether to send a participant's own audio packet out on the network is based both on information about the participant's own voice packet and voice packets that the participant receives from other clients. A Voice Activity Score (VAS) is computed for each frame of a particular voice stream. The VAS includes a voiceness component, indicating the likelihood that the audio frame contains speech or voice, and an energy level component that indicating the ratio of current frame energy to the long-term average of energy for a current speaker. Using the VAS from the participants, the method also ranks the client's voice stream as compared to other clients' voice streams in the voice conference. If there are participants higher ranking, the client's voice stream is not sent.

  • Patent number: 7277580
Abstract: Intensity of each pixel in a source video frame is compared with intensities of one or more corresponding pixels in a reference video frame to calculate one or more intensity differences for each pixel in the source video frame. Further, a determination is made for each pixel in the source video frame, based on the intensity differences and multiple threshold sets, as to whether each pixel in the source video frame is a foreground pixel or a background pixel.

  • Patent number: 7257252
Abstract: For each pixel in a video background mosaic, intensity values associated with corresponding pixels in multiple video frames are collected, and an intensity value associated with the majority of the corresponding pixels is selected. The selected intensity value defines intensity of the pixel in the video background mosaic.

  • Publication number: 20060062303
Abstract: A method and system for detecting and estimating global motion among video frames includes down sampling a first and a second video frame to a low resolution version (I1, I2) and performing a block matching on the low resolution images by treating both images (I1, I2) as two single blocks. This method and system therefore utilizes low-frequency picture information, resulting in a motion vector (U,V), and the second low resolution image I2 being segmented into two regions, a region of high matching difference and a region of low matching difference. The method and system then refines the motion vector (U,V) by calculating the horizontal, vertical, zooming and rotation motion components (Tx, Ty, Tz, Tr), based on the pixels in the region of low matching difference, by gradient-based method.
