Patent number: 8926928Abstract: The invention includes a process for reducing the amount of HCN discharged to atmosphere from a FCC unit, having a regenerator and a means for collecting and supporting catalyst particles. The process comprises adding a catalyst to the regenerator flue gas prior to entering the collecting means and precipitating the catalyst in the collecting means to form a catalyst bed. Ammonia or ammonia precursor is optionally added to the flue gas. The flue gas HCN is reacted in the presence of water and oxygen in the flue gas, and optional ammonia or ammonia precursor, at 200° C. to 800° C. in the presence of the catalyst bed to reduce the HCN amount, and the flue gas containing a reduced amount of HCN is discharged to atmosphere. The catalyst is one or more supported transition or lanthanide metal catalysts. The process can also be utilized in any combustion process.Type: GrantFiled: February 21, 2014Date of Patent: January 6, 2015Assignee: Johnson Matthey Process Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Martin Evans, Raymond Paul Fletcher, Xunhua Mo

Patent number: 8673249Abstract: The invention includes a process for reducing the amount of NOx discharged to atmosphere from a FCC unit, having a regenerator and a means for collecting and supporting catalyst particles. The process comprises adding a catalyst to the regenerator flue gas prior to entering the collecting means and precipitating the catalyst in the collecting means to form a catalyst bed. Ammonia or ammonia precursor is added to the flue gas prior to and/or within the collecting means. The flue gas NOx is reacted with the ammonia or ammonia precursor at 200° C. to 800° C. in the presence of the catalyst bed to reduce the NOx amount, and the flue gas containing a reduced amount of NOx is discharged to atmosphere. The catalyst is one or more supported transition or lanthanide metal catalysts. The process can also be utilized in any combustion process.Type: GrantFiled: February 22, 2013Date of Patent: March 18, 2014Assignee: Intercat, Inc.Inventors: Martin Evans, Xunhua Mo, Raymond Paul Fletcher

Publication number: 20110309286Abstract: Collection enhanced materials, down stream additives, and methods of making the enhanced materials and down stream additives are provided. In one embodiment, a down stream additive is provided that includes an active phase component and at least one of a collection enhancing component. In other embodiments, the down stream additive may have attrition index from about two (2) to about ten (10) and/or an average diameter from about 20 ?m to about 60 ?m. In other embodiments, the down stream additive may have an active phase component which is incompatible with a process performed in an FCC unit. In yet another embodiment, a collection enhanced material having an average diameter from about 60 ?m to about 300 ?m is provided that includes an active component and a collection enhancing component.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 25, 2011Publication date: December 22, 2011Applicant: Intercat, Inc.Inventors: Mehdi Allahverdi, Guido Aru, Paul Diddams, Xunhua Mo, William Reagan, Shanthakumar Sithambaram
