  • Patent number: 11709324
Abstract: An optical connection includes a plurality of ferrules, an optical contact to allow transfer of light, a mechanical contact to allow torque transfer from the optical connection, and a rotational self-alignment structure to allow optical fibers of different optical connectors to self-rotate into rotational self-alignment upon action of connecting, wherein the ferrules are aligned and engage the torque transfer. The rotational self-alignment structure can be a tooth configuration, a helical thread configuration, a ferrule guide configuration, a spring sleeve configuration, derivatives thereof and combinations therefrom.

  • Patent number: 11497382
Abstract: A system and method for displaying an endoscope image in a preferred orientation. An endoscope scans a sample with spectrally encoded light by rotating imaging optics inside an endoscope guide. A processor generates an image based on light returned from the sample, and rotates the image by a first angle offset value and a second angle offset value to display the rotated image in the preferred orientation. The first offset value is an angle difference between a specific direction in which the image is to be displayed on a display and a direction in which the tip of the endoscope is oriented with respect to the imaging plane. The second offset value is an angle difference between a direction of the line of scanning light projected onto a plane perpendicular to the tip and the specific direction in which the image is to be displayed.

  • Publication number: 20220339403
Abstract: A flexible tubular drive shaft for a medical device comprising: an elongated tubular body having an opening extending along a longitudinal axis from a proximal end and a distal end. The elongated tubular body includes a proximal portion having a first rigid section and a first flexible section; a middle portion having a second rigid section; and a distal portion having a second flexible section. The first rigid section is configured to couple the tubular drive shaft to a torque input apparatus to transfer torque to the distal end of the tubular body. The first flexible section is configured to minimize torsion of the tubular body between the first rigid section and the second rigid section, and the second flexible section is configured to increase flexibility of the distal portion of the tubular body.
