  • Patent number: 11433630
Abstract: The present invention generally relates to a method for producing silicone hydrogel contact lenses having less optical defects or free of optical defects by subjecting the extraction tray for the formed silicone hydrogel contact lenses to a reciprocating lowering and raising motion thereof to obtain the silicone hydrogel contact lenses.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 10, 2019
Date of Patent: September 6, 2022
    Assignee: Alcon Inc.
Inventors: Honghui Lu, Mark Neely, Alice Weimin Liu, Xuxian Niu, Uwe Haken

  • Publication number: 20180104919
Abstract: The invention provides a process for casting—molding contact lenses with enhanced quality and enhanced yield achieved by omitting the previously required check to discover on or in which mold half the contact lens is located after the mold has been opened.
    Type: Application
    Filed: October 12, 2017
    Publication date: April 19, 2018

  • Publication number: 20140008824
Abstract: A method and system for manufacturing a contact lens are disclosed involving aligning a male lens mold section and a female lens mold section. A picking head removes a male lens mold section from a male pallet for transfer to a female mold section on a female pallet. The picking head may move substantially freely in a plane perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the picking head as the distance between the male and female mold sections decreases. Alignment, for example, substantially precise alignment between the male mold section, carried by the picking head, and the female mold section carried by the female pallet may be achieved before the male mold section comes in contact with the female mold section.

  • Patent number: 8287782
Abstract: Ophthalmic lens molds include first and second mold members sized and adapted to be assembled, for example interference fitted, together to define a lens-shaped cavity therebetween. At least one of the mold members includes a polar polymeric material and has a flexural modulus less than 3800 MPa.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 6, 2007
Date of Patent: October 16, 2012
Assignee: CooperVision International Holding Company, LP
Inventors: Li Yao, J. Christopher Marmo, Xuxian Niu
  • Patent number: 8003024
Abstract: Contact lens molds and methods of producing soft cast-molded contact lens products are provided. The methods include placing a soft hydrophilic contact lens-forming composition in a cavity formed between a first mold member and a second mold member, subjecting the composition in the cavity to conditions effective to form a contact lens product from the composition, and repeating the placing and subjecting steps a plurality of times, thereby producing a plurality of soft contact lens products. At least the first mold members, and advantageously all of the first and second mold members, are injection-molded with a nucleated thermoplastic polyolefin resin having a melt flow rate in a range of 10 g/10 min to about 40 g/10 min.

Date of Patent: August 23, 2011
