Publication number: 20240374266Abstract: Systems and methods for removing clots via aspiration are disclosed herein. A catheter includes an elongate body defining a lumen. The distal region includes a distal openings region, a proximal openings region and a thrombus interface region between the distal and the proximal openings regions. The distal and proximal openings regions each includes one or more openings in fluid communication with the lumen. In use, the catheter is positioned from a proximal side of the clot so that the distal openings region positioned at least partially distal of the clot and the proximal openings region positioned at least partially proximal of the clot. An aspiration catheter is positioned with its distal end at the proximal end of the clot. The clot is then withdrawn in the proximal direction with a combination of aspiration applied to one or more of the catheter or the aspiration catheter.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 7, 2024Publication date: November 14, 2024Inventors: Tejashri Kumar, Mark Ashby, Ya Guo, Jia Sun, Maria De Jesus Sanson, Arshia Amin Ehsanipour, Danyong Zeng

Patent number: 11969329Abstract: A “dry” packaging in which a prosthetic heart valve is packaged within a container with hydrogel that can be provided in many forms. Certain embodiments include hydrogel that is preloaded with glycerol or the like. The hydrogel regulates the humidity within the container through a diffusion-driven mechanism if a gradient of humidity between the inside and the outside of the hydrogel exists. Humidity regulation is important to prevent the tissue of the valve structure from drying out. When the partially-hydrated hydrogel is present within container, which is saturated with air of a predefined humidity, the water molecules from the air will be absorbed by the hydrogel if the air humidity is high (i.e. when the thermodynamics favor hydrogel hydration) or vice versa. Various embodiments are configured to also house at least a portion of a delivery device for delivering the prosthetic heart valve.Type: GrantFiled: May 3, 2022Date of Patent: April 30, 2024Assignee: MEDTRONIC VASCULAR, INC.Inventors: Raymond Ryan, David Clarke, Kshitija Garde, Ya Guo, Benjamin Wong, Yogesh Darekar, Luke Lehmann, Wei Wang, Laura McKinley, Paul Devereux, Joshua Dudney, Tracey Tien, Karl Olney

Patent number: 10463512Abstract: Methods and apparatus are disclosed for filling a therapeutic substance or drug within a hollow wire that forms a stent. The stent is placed within a chamber housing a fluid drug formulation. During filling, the chamber is maintained at or near the vapor-liquid equilibrium of the solvent of the fluid drug formulation. To fill the stent, a portion of the stent is placed into contact with the fluid drug formulation until a lumenal space defined by the hollow wire is filled with the fluid drug formulation via capillary action. After filling is complete, the stent is retracted such that the stent is no longer in contact with the fluid drug formulation. The solvent vapor pressure within the chamber is reduced to evaporate a solvent of the fluid drug formulation. A wicking means may control transfer of the fluid drug formulation into the stent.Type: GrantFiled: December 12, 2016Date of Patent: November 5, 2019Assignee: Medtronic Vascular, Inc.Inventors: Justin Peterson, James Mitchell, Abby S Pandya, Nate Glucklich, Joseph Berglund, Ya Guo
