  • Patent number: 6947528
Abstract: A recording device at a calling party premises is configured for recording a message for a messaging subscriber by the calling party, and sending the recorded message, via a data network, to a destination message store serving the messaging subscriber. The recording device sends the recorded message based on messaging subscriber attributes retrieved via the data network. Hence, a calling party can utilize a recording device at the calling party premises for recording a message for a messaging subscriber, and sending the message via the data network to a destination message store, eliminating the necessity of establishing any voice-grade connection or a media connection between the calling party and any server (e.g., messaging server, media gateway server, etc.).

  • Patent number: 6882862
Abstract: The present invention provides a system and method for using a standard private branch exchange (PBX), such as e.g., the Lucent Technologies, Inc. DEFINITY® PBX, for interfacing with a wireless (e.g., cellular, etc.) communication network and the public switched telephone network (PSTN). The system employs an adjunct controller and uses computer telephony integration (CTI) associated with a standard PBX to communicate directly with an audio switch and the PSTN. Through the use of CTI, the standard PBX also provides feedback to the caller. For example, when an inbound call arrives (i.e., from the PSTN to a radio transceiver), the adjunct controller determines whether the wireless system has available resources (i.e., an available link) to grant calls and instructs the PBX to provide an audio connection between dynamically assigned wireless links (e.g., RF channels). If no link is available, a busy signal is referred back to the PSTN, and eventually back to the originating switch.

  • Patent number: 5623499
Abstract: A method and apparatus for generating a conformance test data sequence of minimal length to verify that a device conforms to a protocol entity which can be characterized by a simplified extended finite state machine. The method generates an expanded directed graph of the protocol wherein each state is represented by a state vertex and a dummy vertex which are connected to other similar state and dummy vertices by directed edges in a configuration corresponding to the operation of the machine. The directed edges are then assigned traversal numbers corresponding to the minimum number of times a respective directed edge need be traversed in order to test values in a predetermined test data set. The traversal numbers of the expanded directed graph are balanced to form a symmetric expanded directed graph. An Euler tour and a corresponding unique input-output sequence of the last state of the Euler tour are generated to form the conformance test data sequence.
