  • Patent number: 9428185
Abstract: A method is provided for automatically activating a car's cross traffic camera system when turning a corner and displaying the camera feed on a dashboard mounted display, thereby enhancing cross traffic visibility and making the maneuver safer. The system can be configured to anticipate an upcoming turn based on use of the turn signal alone, or the turn signal in combination with vehicle speed. The display of the camera's data feed is terminated after completion of the turn, where turn completion is typically based on (i) deactivation of the turn signal, (ii) the position of the steering wheel, or (iii) vehicle speed.

  • Patent number: 9428119
Abstract: A method is provided for learning driver preferences relative to the use of a vehicle's camera system, where the system automatically activates a specific camera based on these driver preferences, and where the driver preferences include both identification of the specific camera and the geographic locations associated with activating and then deactivating that camera.

  • Patent number: 9406234
Abstract: A method is provided for automatically activating a car's side view camera during lane changes and displaying the camera feed on a dashboard mounted display, thereby eliminating blind spots and making the maneuver safer. The system can be configured to anticipate an upcoming lane change based on use of the turn signal alone, or the turn signal in combination with vehicle speed and/or determination of a second vehicle located in the primary car's blind spot. The display of the camera's data feed is terminated after completion of the lane change, where lane change completion is typically based on deactivation of the turn signal or the vehicle crossing over the lane markers.

  • Publication number: 20160196823
Abstract: A method is provided that allows voice commands to be used to identify and activate specific cameras associated with a vehicle's camera system, thus allowing the driver to easily activate side-view cameras during lane changes, forward and/or side-view cameras when entering into traffic, rearward and/or side-view cameras when backing out of a parking space, and in-cabin cameras when monitoring the back seat, all with minimal inconvenience and distraction.

  • Patent number: 9305463
Abstract: A method is provided for automatically activating an in-cabin camera system whenever the control system determines that the volume level of sounds detected within the car are in excess of a preset sound level, thereby allowing the driver under certain circumstances to monitor occupants of the rear portion of the passenger cabin without stopping the car or turning around in their seat. The system can be configured to analyze the detected sounds and compare those sounds to preset sound patterns, thus helping the system to distinguish between routine background noise and any sounds that indicate that activation of the in-cabin camera system is warranted.
