Abstract: A process for preparing a granular composite adsorbent, that includes combining poly (diallyl dimethyl ammonium halide) and a clay mineral in water, maintaining the mixture under stirring, recovering a wet mass, forming the wet mass into granules and drying the granules to obtain the granular adsorbent having surface layer with positive zeta potential. The granular material and methods using the granular material in water treatment are also disclosed.

Abstract: Compounds and clay composites comprising same having sorbent properties are disclosed. Articles incorporating such composites are also disclosed. Further disclosed are articles comprising said composites and methods of using same for treating organic waste.

Abstract: A herbicidal formulation comprising of incorporating the herbicide in a micelle or vesicle and adsorbing said micelle or vesicle containing herbicide on clay mineral. The formulation is suitable in particular for negatively charged herbicides at pH above 6. The herbicidal formulation provides slow release and reduced leaching of the herbicide to deep soil layers, thus reducing contamination of underground water and soil. Furthermore, the herbicide is maintained in the target vicinity, thus its efficiency is enhanced and a smaller concentration may be used.
