  • Patent number: 10139930
Abstract: An information handling system touchscreen display interacts with totem devices by recognizing and tracking spectral signatures of the totem devices so that totem positions are reported as a single length, width and rotational orientation message to a host operating system. Ignore zones and hysteresis time periods are defined from the position message based upon totem context so that the host operating system processes touchscreen inputs with minimal latency and improved accuracy. Communication and battery charging are provided to the totem by the touchscreen display will illumination directed to the totem position.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 9, 2016
Date of Patent: November 27, 2018
    Assignee: Dell Products L.P.
Inventors: Jace W. Files, Larry A. Stone, Mark S. Sears, Yagiz C. Yildiz, Sujata Das

  • Publication number: 20180292943
Abstract: A system, method, and computer-readable medium are disclosed for performing a display device noise reduction operation. In certain embodiments, the display device noise reduction operation synchronizes the clocks between a Scalar clock signal (e.g., a Master clock), a touch device (such as an active pen type touch device), and touch controller clock signals. Additionally, in certain embodiments, a line sample blanking signal (SAMPLE_BLANK) is routed to a pen controller such as an EMR pen controller and a touch controller. The line sample blanking signal being asserted indicates that the display is clocking in a line of the display.

  • Publication number: 20180285548
Abstract: An information handling system security system presents a combination lock user interface at a display with numbers depicted at a perimeter of a totem placed on the display. Rotational movement of the totem relative to the perimeter selects security code inputs to unlock access to the information handling system. Random placement of the numbers at the perimeter and totem unique values provide additional security that help prevent hacking of the security code through mimicking of inputs actions by an unauthorized observer.

  • Publication number: 20180203988
Abstract: An information handling system includes a display device and a processor configured to display a plurality of icons in a first display area, divide a second display area into a plurality of sectors, designate an authentication sector of the plurality of sectors, designate an authentication icon of the plurality of icons, receive a user input including selecting one of the icons and dragging the selected icon to a selected one of the sectors, determine if the selected sector is the authentication sector and if the selected icon is the authentication icon, and display a prompt to the user to provide an authentication factor to log on to the information handling system in response to the selected sector being the authentication sector and to the selected icon being the authentication icon.
