    Abstract: The present invention provides a method for the detection of breast cancer using breast by measuring expression levels of breast cancer specific marker (BCSM) genes, and in particular the level of polynucleotides transcribed from and polypeptides encoded by the BCSM genes. The present invention also provide a method for the treatment and/or prevention of breast cancer by modulating the activity of BCSM genes or the products of BCSM genes.
