    Abstract: A communication device determines that a communication channel to be used for a multi-user (MU) transmission spans a frequency bandwidth greater than 160 MHz. The communication device allocates one or more frequency resource units (RUs) for the MU transmission, including: in response to determining that the communication channel spans the frequency bandwidth greater than 160 MHz, selecting one or more frequency RUs from a second set of frequency RUs. The second set of frequency RUs omits at least some RUs of a smallest bandwidth that are included in a first set of RUs that is used for allocating frequency RUs for communication channels having bandwidths of at most 160 MHz. The communication device generates allocation information that indicates the allocation of the one or more frequency RUs for the MU transmission, and transmits the allocation information to one or more other communication devices in connection with the MU transmission.

In another aspect, cells can be rendered sensitive to the presence of a set of predetermined conditions such that cells will only grow when two or more necessary exogenous agents are supplied, and without either of which, the cells are killed. In this aspect, hybrid transcription factors provide a vast array of possible predetermined conditions.

A processor, responsive to a batch job being ready to be executed on a source database server, sends a first communication to a target database server with a synchronization start point. While executing the batch job, a processor utilizes a pre-lock function, pre-load function, and lock avoidance function to prevent lock conflicts. A processor, responsive to either the source database server or the target database server encountering a commit statement, suspends the respective database server and sends a second communication to ask if the other respective database server is ready to complete the commit statement. A processor, responsive to the other respective database server confirming its ready to complete the commit statement, completes the commit statement on both the source database server and the target database server.

    Abstract: Techniques for ranking skills using an ensemble machine learning approach are described. The outputs of two heterogenous, machine-learned models are combined to rank a set of skills that may be possessed by an end-user of an online service. Some subset of the highest-ranking skills is then presented to the end-user with a recommendation that the skills be added to the end-user's profile. The ensemble learning technique involves a concept referred to as “boosting”, in which a weaker performing model is enhanced (e.g., “boosted”) by a stronger performing model, when ranking the set of skills. Accordingly, by using a combination of models, better results are achieved than might be with either one of the individual models alone. Furthermore, the approach is scalable in ways that cannot be achieved with heuristic-based approaches.
