In some embodiments, a method for editing a video is provided, the method comprising: receiving, using a hardware processor, a video file; identifying a plurality of frames at a playback frame rate from the video file; generating an edited video file by extracting a subset of the plurality of frames, wherein the extracted frames in the subset of the plurality of frames are separated by a predetermined length in the plurality of frames and wherein extracting the subset of the plurality frames modifies a frame rate of at least a portion of the video file to an effective frame rate; storing the edited video file; and presenting the edited video file at the playback frame rate.

The permissions component generates and grants permissions to a second user to edit or augment the uploaded media content in the online collaboration space. The finalization component generates a final version of the uploaded media content based in part on modifications made by the second user.

In one or more aspects, a system is provided that includes an analysis component configured to analyze a video and generate summaries of content included in respective segments of the video, and a summary component configured to generate shortened versions of the video having durations less than the duration of the video based in part on the summaries of the content included in the respective segments of the video, wherein the video is made available for streaming in association with an option to select the video or one of the shortened versions.

The system further comprises an extraction component configured to extract and separate the two or more different audio components, and an editing component configured to generate an editing interface that receives input via the editing interface regarding editing the two or more different audio components separately.
