    Abstract: A read head includes a permanent magnet (PM) layer formed up to 100 nm behind a free layer where PM layer magnetization may be initialized in a direction that adjusts free layer (FL) bias point, and shifts sensor asymmetry (Asym) closer to 0% for individual heads at slider or Head Gimbal Assembly level to provide a significant improvement in device yield. Asym is adjusted using different initialization schemes and initialization directions. With individual heads, initialization direction is selected based on a prior measurement of asymmetry. The PM layer is CoPt or CoCrPt and has coercivity from 500 Oersted to 1000 Oersted. The PM layer may have a width equal to the FL, or in another embodiment, the PM layer adjoins a backside of the top shield and has a width equal to or greater than that of the FL.

    Abstract: A read head is disclosed wherein a Spin Hall Effect (SHE) layer is formed on a free layer (FL) in a sensor and between the FL and top shield (S2). Preferably, the sensor has a seed layer, an AP2 reference layer, antiferromagnetic coupling layer, AP1 reference layer, and a tunnel barrier sequentially formed on a bottom shield (S1). When the stripe heights of the FL and SHE layer are equal, a two terminal configuration is employed where a current flows between one side of the SHE layer to a center portion thereof and then to S1, or vice versa. As a result, a second spin torque is generated by the SHE layer on the FL that opposes a first spin torque from the AP1 reference layer on the FL.

    Abstract: This disclosure describes techniques for managing the replication of a secret across different regions. A secrets management system (SMS) may be used to manage replication of secrets across different regions of the cloud that are in different geographic locations. Different input mechanisms, such as an API, a UI, or a CLI may be utilized to manage the replication of secrets. In some examples, upon detection of a replication message, the SMS reads the message, identifies the secret, and performs an action involving the secret. For instance, a secret identified within the replication message is accessed from the current region, and the secret is re-encrypted using a customer specified KMS key using customer credentials. The secret is then packaged into a secret replication message. An SRS in the replicated region reads this new secret replication message, accesses the secret that was replicated, and saves the secret in the replicated region.

In some examples, pretreating the bipolar plate may include positioning the bipolar plate within the redox flow battery, and thereafter charging the redox flow battery at multiple discrete plating current densities for each of one or more initial charging cycles to electrochemically etch the surface. In additional or alternative examples, pretreating the bipolar plate may include soaking the bipolar plate in solution to chemically treat the surface. In this way, the bipolar plate may be pretreated via electrochemical etching and/or chemical treatment so as to reduce electrochemical performance losses and dendrite formation in the redox flow battery.

The system includes a test cavity, a microwave control device, strain measurement devices, a measurement circuit, and a resistance strain gauge. The strain measurement device includes circumferential strain gauges and axial strain gauges, and is attached to the surface of the rock specimen. The measurement circuit is connected to the strain measurement devices by means of leads, and the resistance strain gauge. After microwaves emitted by the microwave control device act on the rock specimen, the plurality of circumferential strain gauges and the axial strain gauges collect data from the rock specimen, and the volume change of the rock specimen can be obtained in combination with the measurement circuit and the resistance strain gauge.

    Abstract: An ultraviolet curing coating composition includes unsaturated carboxylic acid and salts thereof, a compound containing a carbonyl group, a thickener, a photoinitiator, and deionized water. The added value of a fiber attenuation coefficient of the composition is less than 0.02 dB/km. A coating internally cross-linked in a network shape is formed on the surface of an optical fiber by interaction between active groups, and the coating has a faster water absorption rate and better water blocking effect and is not easy to water loss. Under the optimal mixing of raw materials, the water absorption rate of the coating composition is maintained at 3 to 15 times and further can be controlled at 3 to 10 times, so that a water-soluble tensile coating coated on the optical fiber will not excessively squeeze the optical fiber after absorbing water to cause the attenuation of the optical fiber over the standard.
