Abstract: A method for controlling acceleration of a marine vessel having at least one engine includes receiving a ramp value and an overshoot value, and then determining an acceleration curve based on the ramp value and the overshoot value, wherein the acceleration curve visually represents engine RPM values or vessel speed values over time for accelerating a marine vessel from idle to a desired cruising speed. A graph is then displayed containing the acceleration illustration curve on a user interface display, wherein the graph visually correlates the ramp value and the overshoot value to the acceleration illustration curve. A user input is then received adjusting the ramp value and/or the overshoot value, and the acceleration illustration curve is then redetermined based on the adjusted ramp value and the adjusted overshoot value, and the graph is updated to reflect the new acceleration illustration curve.

Abstract: A joystick device for controlling propulsion and steering of a marine vessel has a handle configured to be moveable by an operator to provide propulsion and steering control commands for a marine vessel, and a housing at the base of the handle such that the handle extends out of the housing. The joystick device also has an adjustable display thereon that adjusts based on at least one of a control mode and a movement of the handle.

Abstract: A control system of a marine vessel includes a vessel control unit that controls the rotational position of at least one rotatable device on the marine vessel, and a head-mounted display in data communication with the vessel control unit. The head-mounted display has a sensor system that detects a facing direction and a display positioned in the operator's field of view that displays an indicator of the facing direction. The head-mounted display also includes an interface element that allows the operator to select the facing direction. The control system operates such that the vessel control unit adjusts the rotational position of the rotatable device based on the facing direction.

Abstract: A propulsion and steering control system for a marine vessel has a joystick device operable to provide control commands, the joystick device having a handle extending on an axis. The control system also has a control unit that receives control commands from the joystick device and correspondingly controls at least one marine drive. The joystick device and the control unit operate in a Heading mode such that the control unit controls the marine drive to automatically maintain the selected heading of the marine vessel. Rotation of the handle about the axis adjusts the selected heading by a predefined increment.
