Publication number: 20240419474Abstract: Systems and methods are described for efficient and flexible way of allocating resources in remote computing environments. A “layered” hierarchy is described where a user can be provisioned with a virtual desktop from a virtual desktop pool in a first layer (“layer 1”), which can be configured for more common or basic usage. While working in the layer 1 desktop, when the user opens specific applications, such as applications that are resource-demanding or have other specific requirements, instead of launching those applications in the layer 1 desktop, the applications can be launched from a pool in a second layer (“layer 2”) and be redirected to the layer 1 desktop. The layer 2 pool can be configured to suit the requirements of the specific application, such as by having more memory, virtual GPUs, different operating systems, etc.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 21, 2023Publication date: December 19, 2024Inventors: Yanchao Zhang, Jianming Fan, Kai Song, Yang Liu, Lin Lv

Patent number: 12141596Abstract: Remote desktop services are accessed by a remote desktop from a pool of remote desktops. When the remote desktop detects a user request to launch an application and determines that the application to be launched is from another remote desktop, the remote desktop establishes a connection with the other remote desktop to launch and display the application seamlessly. In addition, the remote desktop retrieves drive configuration data indicating drives or folders that are shared by each of the remote desktops in the pool and creates a mapping of the shared drives and folders based on the drive configuration data. In response to a user request to open a shared drive or folder of the second remote desktop, the remote desktop establishes a connection between the first remote desktop and the second remote desktop to acquire contents of the shared drive or folder.Type: GrantFiled: June 10, 2021Date of Patent: November 12, 2024Assignee: Omnissa, LLCInventors: Lin Lv, Yanchao Zhang, Yang Liu

Patent number: 11580203Abstract: A system for authenticating a user attempting to access a computing device or a software application executing thereon. A data storage device stores one or more digital images or frames of video of face(s) of authorized user(s) of the device. The system subsequently receives from a first video camera one or more digital images or frames of video of a face of the user attempting to access the device and compares the image of the face of the user attempting to access the device with the stored image of the face of the authorized user of the device. To ensure the received video of the face of the user attempting to access the device is a real-time video of that user, and not a forgery, the system further receives a first photoplethysmogram (PPG) obtained from a first body part (e.g., a face) of the user attempting to access the device, receives a second PPG obtained from a second body part (e.g., a fingertip) of the user attempting to access the device, and compares the first PPG with the second PPG.Type: GrantFiled: April 26, 2019Date of Patent: February 14, 2023Assignee: Arizona Board of Regents on behalf of Arizona State UniversityInventors: Yimin Chen, Yanchao Zhang
