  • Publication number: 20110296452
Abstract: A method and system of providing content-aware persistent advertisements comprises the steps of ingesting and collecting VDNA (Video DNA) fingerprints of media contents playing on various network-enabled terminals including Internet browsers, mobile devices, tablets, smart televisions and so on; sending the ingested fingerprints along with other information such as metadata, user's location, etc, to the content identification server via Internet or mobile networks, and selecting accurate advertisements according to the media content and relevant information, then finally pushing the advertisements back to user's terminal. With VDNA fingerprint identification, media contents are identified by content instead of metadata or other surrounding information, so that the result of identification can be considered genuine, and the chosen advertisements based on the media content can be persistent across multiple terminals playing the same media content.

  • Patent number: 8009861
Abstract: A method and system for generating a fingerprint for a video object. The method includes obtaining a plurality of frames associated with a video object. Additionally, the method includes, for each of the plurality of frames, processing information associated with the plurality of frames, determining a plurality of spatial signatures for the each of the plurality of frames based on at least information associated with the each of the plurality of frames, and determining a plurality of temporal signatures for the each of the plurality of frames based on at least information associated with the plurality of frames. The plurality of spatial signatures corresponds to a plurality of resolutions respectively, and the plurality of temporal signatures corresponding to a plurality of frame rates respectively.

  • Publication number: 20090141805
Abstract: A method and system for generating a spatial signature for a frame of a video object. The method includes obtaining a frame associated with a video object, and dividing the frame into a plurality of blocks. The plurality of blocks corresponds to a plurality of locations respectively, each of the plurality of blocks includes a plurality of pixels, and the plurality of pixels corresponds to a plurality of pixel values respectively. Additionally, the method includes determining a plurality of average pixel values for the plurality of blocks respectively. Each of the plurality of blocks corresponds to one of the plurality of average pixel values. Moreover, the method includes processing information associated with the plurality of average pixel values and determining a plurality of comparison values for the plurality of blocks respectively based on at least information associated with the plurality of average pixel values.

  • Publication number: 20080040807
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for identifying a video object using digital fingerprints. The digital fingerprints are generated from information extracted from the video object including encoded video. The digital fingerprints can be calculated in a manner that permits identification of both the video object and operational characteristics of the video object based on matching calculated digital fingerprints with known fingerprints of known video objects. Systems and methods are described that allow a DVD to be uniquely identified and identify whether the DVD is original, copied or pirated. Systems and methods are described for computing digital fingerprints from strings of bits in which certain additional data is optionally embedded. Systems and methods are described that permit media players to access known signatures of known video objects maintained on one or more databases and to identify video objects presented for playing on the media player.

  • Publication number: 20080027931
Abstract: Systems and methods are described for publishing, searching, retrieving and binding metadata with a digital object. A content-based ID can be employed to uniquely identify a digital object and associate metadata with the digital object. Content-based IDs can be a unique code, or a string of bits or some other unique identifier that can be consistently recalculated from the digital object and can serve as a permanent identifier for the digital object. Systems and methods are described for publishing metadata by wrapping metadata with a content-based ID for a digital object. According to certain aspects of the invention, the metadata can be published in a syndication feed including an RSS feed. An extension to syndication feeds is described that includes a tag for publishing metadata about a digital media object with a more generalized content-based ID.

  • Publication number: 20020129280
Abstract: A system (and method) for providing security to compressed digital media. The system includes a medium for computer codes. A code is directed to forming a secured media object and a residual mask for the secured media object. The secured media object is disabled. A code is directed to replicating the secured media object into a plurality of secured media object copies 1 through N. Each of the secured media object copies represents the secured media object, where N represents an integer greater than 1. The memory also has a code directed to transferring the secured media object copies 1 through N into respective distribution servers 1 through N through a network; and a code directed to storing the secured media object copies 1 through N in memories of the respective distribution servers 1 through N. Another code is directed to scheduling delivery based upon a selected time and date of one of the secured media object copies at one of the distribution servers to a client device through the network.

  • Publication number: 20020116519
Abstract: A method (and system) for transmitting streaming media through a network of computers in a secured manner to a client device, e.g., computer, work station, personal digital assistant, cellular phone, television. The method includes transferring streaming media, which has control information and data information. The method also includes removing one or more bits from one or more packets from the streaming media to form a masked version of the streaming media, which cannot be displayed to produce a clear output. A step of transferring the masked version of the streaming media to the client device over a network is included. The method converts the masked version of the streaming media to a display format; and displays the masked version of the streaming media in the display format where the masked version of streaming media producing an incomplete output of the streaming media. The incomplete output of the streaming media is difficult to see clearly.
