  • Patent number: 10172067
Abstract: A first gateway receives, from a source user equipment, an uplink packet addressed to a target user equipment and identifies a pairing between the source user equipment and the target user equipment. The first gateway routes the received uplink packet to the target user equipment on a communication path that bypasses an Internet. A first mobility management entity (MME) receives, from a source user equipment, a first request to pair the source user equipment with a target user equipment and transmits a second request to a gateway to pair the source user equipment with the target user equipment. The first MME transmits messages to the source user equipment and the target user equipment including an identifier of the pairing received from the gateway in response to the second request.

  • Patent number: 8331357
Abstract: Apparatus for placing a plurality of computer-assisted compressed-voice subscriber calls using a circuit-switched signal path in a distributed telecommunications network. A plurality of vocoders receive voice data from respective subscriber voice devices and output substantially continuous compressed-voice data signals which are arranged by a plurality of packetizers into compressed-voice data packets. A plurality of network adapters send the compressed-voice data packets to a circuit-switched telephone network. A plurality of sequencers remove the substantially continuous compressed-voice data signals from the compressed-voice data packets. A multiplexer coupled to the sequencers combines the compressed-voice data signals into a compressed-voice data package and a signal injector injects the compressed-voice data package into a prearranged time slot of a conventional circuit-switched signal path.

  • Patent number: 6735296
Abstract: Telephone lines are moved from one or more switching modules (105 and 107) to one or more new switching modules (201) with minimal outage for customers whose lines are affected. Pseudo-lines are created (303) and the new switching module (201) and line data that supports customer features and routing of calls is programmed into the new switching module(s) (201). Connections are moved from the old module(s) (105 and 107) to the new module(s) (201), and the telephone numbers, i.e., routing information, is exchanged (309) between the modules in a single transaction.
